Hello,

My wife and I are coming to USVI in mid March for 6 nights. We've booked our villa on STJ for 5 nights (in Sat-out Thurs), as we fly out of STT early Friday morning. If you can follow this, we currently have the option of staying on STJ in our villa for the last night and dealing with car ferry, etc very early Friday morning (we rented out car on STT), OR we could take the car ferry over to STT Thursday, spend some time on that island (it's our first time visiting) and stay somewhere that night.

Any opinions or suggestions on where we might stay for one night on STT? Areas or specific resorts? At the least it would give us the chance to see that island a little.

Please assume we wouldn't be terribly inconvenienced by the move to a new accommodation.

Thanks.

If you are certain that you have enough time to board the busy morning ferry, drive to the airport, return the car, pass thru coustoms and make the plane; then, stay on stj. If not, Freanchmans Reef would be my choice. Megens + a shake from udder delight + Drakes Seat + Spa at hotel + dinner at Havana Blue = $600.00+

As the previous poster said, do be sure of your times if staying the last night on St John, and remember that you need to be at the airport two hours in advance of your scheduled departure. The first ferry leaves Cruz Bay at 6:15AM.

The Marriott Frenchman's Reef is one option (if you can get a one-night reservation there) but I would also take a look at the Best Western Emerald Beach Resort which is on a beautiful beach on the airport road and 5 mins from the terminal. There are some excellent dining options just a (less than) 10 minute drive away in Frenchtown. For a gorgeous view and consistently excellent food at reasonable prices I'd also suggest the Banana Tree Grille located at Bluebeard's Castle above town.

Magens Bay is absolutely worth a visit but check the cruise ship schedule and, if there are several ships in on that Thursday the cruise ship visitors jam up the main area by the concessions between 11AM-3PM. However, there's always plenty of room to relax (and park) down at the far end of the beach (it's a mile long).

Hope that helps with your decision, and enjoy a lovely vacation!
