Ok, I know I should know all this BUT- we're finally using weekend coffee time to sit and talk about what we want to do when we return to STJ in late Nov that we haven't done before. Hubbie Chuck is totally against renting a powerboat so there goes my original firm plan. Now we're looking at taking the ferry from STJ to JVD for the day. So my questions are:
1) how much actual time on Jost would we actually have considering customs etc. We assume we'd take the first ferry over and the last back but the current schedule reads 8:30 going over and 3PM coming back.
2) can we take a taxi from the docking side of Jost over to the Bubbly Pool and Soggy Dollar Bar? These are the two places we haven't been yet. We have been over to Foxy's and loved it but don't need to repeat a trip to Jost just for that.
3) can you reach the Pool by land? What about the Bar or do you have to come by water?
4) do you know if the ferry schedule will become more frequent in late November? More days than just Fri-Sun?

Thanks again and Happy Labor Day!

Sorry, I don't know the answers to all of your questions, but here's some information for you.

1. We got to Jost around 10 am. The ferry coming home leaves at 3 and you cannot be late - they will not wait.
2. The taxi will take you wherever you want to go. They'll be at the dock anxiously awaiting your arrival, and you can make a "pick-up time" arrangement with them for the next leg of your trip. They go back and forth around Soggy Dollar throughout the day - I'm not sure about Bubbly Pool.
3 & 4. Sorry - I don't know the answer to those questions.

Good luck - Have Fun!

Karrieb,

You can taxi to Long Bay Beach (where Foxy's Taboo is located) and hike to the bubbly pool from there. I don't remember it being a particularly long hike - maybe 10 or 15 minutes, and it is fairly flat as I recall. We did this about 6 years ago - before Foxy's Taboo was there. The pool is only bubbly if the northern swells come in - usually in the winter. We were there in January and it was bubbling to beat the band. Not sure about November; you may want to ask once on JVD to decide whether it's worth stopping.

Have fun!
