Can anyone recommend some fine dining on St Thomas....Looking for something with a view. I have dined at Havana Blue and understand Old Stone Farmhouse is not on the water, What about Oceana in French town? Thoughts or Suggestions?

My no-fail recommendation is Banana Tree Grille at Bluebeard's Castle. Ask for a "balcony" table for a wonderful view over town and the WICO dock. Get there early enough and you can enjoy sunset and watch the cruise ships regally maneuvering their way out to the open sea.

The food is always excellent, the wine list large and varied, the prices reasonable, service always impeccable and ambiance delightful. Oceana is very good but no view to speak of. Also no view but if you want a truly wonderful Italian experience, Romano's in Smith Bay is the place. Tony's culinary delights as well as his art work have been wowing his customers for a couple of decades and should be on the "to visit" list of anyone who appreciates fine dining!

I agree with STT Resident's recommendation!

I planned a birthday dinner for my wife at Banana Tree Grill. They were awesome! Not only did they guarantee our "balcony table", but they also recommended a florist (I wanted a special table centerpiece for her), and made sure the table was set perfectly with my fresh flower centerpiece prior to seating our party (of 5). They were so very sincere in their wishes for a great birthday for my wife, and the meal was fabulous (one guest voted their Key Lime Pie the best of our trip - and he had pie EVERYWHERE we went).

We have also really enjoyed our meals and dining experience at Craig & Sally's. Wonderful service, great meals, extensive wine list (if you are into that). It just doesn't have the same ambiance as Banana Tree since it is in Frenchtown and has not outside views. But for a pure fine dining experience with outstanding food, service, and wine offerings, C&S is another sure bet.

Good Luck! Have Fun!

Also, mafolie for a view of the harbor at night is nice. But really, after dark what view are you looking for? I would be after good food rather than a pitch black view of the water. Virgilios downtown is awesome Italian. Portabello at emerald is good also and you can get a table outside looking at the beach and bay.
