I have visited STT and STJ while on cruise excursions. On June 2 I will be visiting for my first extended stay. I would like to thank all those who respond on this board especially STT Resident. I have learned a lot. I am staying on STT. I am still undecided on renting a Jeep. I know at the very least I will rent one for a day on STJ but not sure if I should rent one for the week. I plan on either taking a ferry or sail to Jost Van Dyke one day (with passport) so that would be one day I would not need the vehicle. I am also don't think I should drive after having drinks at dinner or happy Hour. I think a Jeep would be great for going to the beaches though so there in lies my dilemma. By the way, this could turn out to be a PMV. I can retire on a pension in five years at age 54 but would still have to and would want to work if even part time. I have considered the Florida Keys but this visit may change my mind. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Thanks for the kind words! You don't need a Jeep (or a 4WD) to get around St Thomas nor for a day trip to St John but I strongly suggest you rent a car for at least several days of your stay. Being able to go where you want when you want (you'll surely want to do some shopping at least!) is priceless and if you're looking at this as a "sort of" PMV then your own wheels are essential.

Have a great time!
