Hi - Am staying at Villa Diva for a week in early May - will post a trip report. Diva has the Magen's Bay view, Carefree has the Hans Lollick view. I've stayed at Allure and loved it - Allure is not total a/c (bedrooms only ) but it is screened, has a great pool, hot tub, and the sound of the water crashing against the rocks below. It has a beautiful outdoor eating area on the upper level, right outside the dining room. Stargate looks beautiful and it seems to have both views, being on the point. Pallina is another beautiful villa in that area. I also like the northwest - Carat Bay has some very nice duplex villas - again, beautiful right above the water views - not as easily accessible but that made it seem more like STJ to us. Sherri or Bluwater can give you more info on the STT villas in the Magen's area.

hi cohio,

How many will be your party? Are any of them going to be children?

I rented Villa Fairwinds on Peterborg last summer - 3 bedrooms over 2 separate structures. I have pictures and a full trip report if you search back through my posts around Sept 06.

Peterborg is like "villa central" on STT - and it is a really lovely area, in case you aren't familiar. I prefer Northside facing villas for the views (Hans Lollick just across from you - and down island - STJ, Jost, Tortola) and for the cooling ocean breezes on that side.

Have you been to STT on other visits?

Sherri here! I am hoping that you get answers from those whom have actually stayed in the houses as yes, I know them all, but I have not actually stayed in any of them! I think amenities is the first thing you should think about. How many guests, steps, children, Elders, North-side or South-side of the peninsula, etc. The North-side gets morning sun, the South-side gets afternoon sun! I would have to say that out of the 3 mentioned, my first choice would be Star Gate. All are very nice houses and Managed by McLaughlin Anderson so therefore you can't go wrong! I am anxious for Margyz's trip report, but not till May and you should book sooner than later to get the house you want! The girls in the office can answer questions such as lay out of the houses, etc., they are always happy to oblige! Everyone's preferances are so varied, it really is a personal choice! Anyone out there who have stayed in these houses?

hi bluwater!
thanks for the reply!
We have been to st. thomas/st.john one other time, several years ago. we stayed in a resort that has since closed. my husband and i are the only ones traveling, (commited) for sure. we have a few friends that are interested in going....but money is an issue.....so/ we are trying to get a place big enough, for at least one other couple. we are also looking at the marriott.
any help is appreciated!

Re Allure - steps. Yes, there are two long flights from the parking pad down to the house. You are then on the main level which includes the great room, kitchen, larger master b'room suite There are decks outside this level - the grill is out there, a dining table under the latticed peak, and when we were there, two chaises outside the living room. There is an inside staircase that goes down two shorter flights to the lower level that has two bedrooms w/baths and a laundry room. This is the pool level. There is a covered porch outside each of the bedrooms that make for good shade poolside. There is also an outside staircase down to the pool from the upper decks. So, a lot of steps - yes, that's true. If you are one couple, tho, once you get into the villa it will just be up and down to the pool. Another villa that comes to mind is Moonlight which has been on our short list for some time. We thought of it for our May trip but I think I remember something about construction nearby at that time. I assume that there are steps down to the villa but after that I think it would be one level as there is a bedroom on the main level. Look at Mimosa out on Carat Bay. Again, steps down to the villa but one level living as there is a complete master and two bathrooms on the main level, along with the pool, and hot tub. We haven't stayed at Mimosa but at Mangorosa which is in the same enclave and has the same layout as Mimosa, although it is at the end and detached.

Hi,

I would look into vrbo.com---- you can find all kinds of villas all over St. Thomas at reasonable prices. There are alot in Peterborg and you can see pictures and directly deal with the owner for questions and more pictures of the property.

I have a place on the Northside but it is only for 2 people. We are 1,200 ft on Peter Mountain. If you want to live like an islander you can find many places all over the island. The Northside, where we are is 8-10 degrees cooler than sea level.
In August it will be hotter than winter since our trade winds die down then but it is still really nice here all year round.

I have lived here for 34 years so if you need any more info please ask at my email address. I have been helping some people since I just found this site last week.

Sunny Regards,

Cindie

Diva- 1 step, tho about 15 to the lower 3rd bedroom, Carefree- 1 step- Master on main level, a few steps to the lower level, and Star Gate has (guessing) about 12 to 15 steps to the main door- there is a spiral staircase that goes up one level to the Master and has 2 bedrooms with 1 to 2 steps down from the main level! Hope this helps! 🙂
