We will be in St. John at the end of April and staying in Great Cruz Bay. Can anyone give me any ideas on good fishing spots?

be careful with the fishing.. Ciguaterra is an issue on the islands if you are planning to eat the fish you catch. google Ciguaterra for more information.. .

I read the links that Pia provided and I just want some clarification w/ regards to fishing from some locals.

Late Janauary my grandkids will be visiting us on St. John, they are 4 and 6. They want to go fishing and although they probably won't catch anything it's just the idea of fishing in the ocean. Is it safe to assume that fishing is legal on all parts of St. John as long as you aren't fishing from beaches where people are swimming? Do you need a license to fish if you are just going to catch and release? We don't plan on eating anything they catch. Again just for fun fishing w/ the little ones!

Thank you for any info you can share
