My husband and I are doing a belated honeymoon on St. John in less than a week. We're staying at a villa, so we'll cook in most nights (suggestions on grocery shopping, what to bring with, what to buy there, etc much appreciated), but we'd like to do one night at a really nice restaurant to celebrate our marriage. I'm a fish-eating vegetarian and my husband eats anything. If we are doing one big night out, what would you suggest?

Thanks in advance!

Happy belated honeymoon mainer.

For groceries, visit Starfish Market or Dolphin Market - both in Cruz Bay. Dolphin is across from the gas station and is larger inside than it looks from the outside. Starfish is in the shopping center about 2 minutes from Dolphin. Starfish is larger and probably has more food options. I think Dolphin has a better wine selection.

Lots of people on here have discussed bringing groceries. Meat is very expensice. Search the old threads for how to bring frozen meat. That is what I would bring - for your hubby, of course. As a fish eating vegetarian you should be quite happy with the seafood selection - but veggies are expensive.

Big night out - if you want fancy, honeymoon kind of appeal, consider Le Chateau de Bordeaux 340/776-6611. Asolare is also very good. Also, consider having a private chef come into your villa to prepare a special meal. Lots of people like this idea - very romantic, very private. Mathayom is a wonderful checf- but they book up quickly -

I vote for Asolare - the view and food are both fabulous, make a reservation and asked for a table on the porch - overlooks Cruz Bay, absolutely killer view. It is pricey, but from what I've read on this board, the Cha.Bordeaux is also (and you are on St.John - it's all relative)....you might want to do a search on this board as the question you ask has been asked and answered many times with many suggestions given... Congratulations on your wedding!!
