This is a video clip of a waterspout off the coast of Florida in Pensacola Beach. Let's hope this is all the islands see with all this 'hurricane' talk. Cheers to sunny weather and no 'excitement'.

You might have click on the video itself to get it to load. Computer savvy I am not.

That waterspout made the front page of the paper. I have always searched and chased the waterspouts and always want to see one in person. So I lived on the hill right where that spout appeared over, except that we moved to Mandahl and I missed the whole thing!!! I was at home doing nothing and Ronnie didn't call and let me know there was a spout over the hill. We ended up moving back to that hill (flag), but I never saw a spout. I have chased tornados around Kansas, but I lived on STT for two years and didn't see one spout. Made me very mad, although, I am sorry if anyone had any damage from a spout. They say they are harmless, but that's as long as they stay away from you. Thousands of tourists saw it, but not me. Thanks for the pic though.

ssjrs1,
Good for you! Where are ya gonna stay anyway?
All we can do is keep our fingers crossed and pray Dean doesn't hit us! (as Jeff walks over next door to see how many sheets of plywood we have). Too early to start getting ready, but doesn't hurt to make sure we have what we will need!
Hope you enjoy your visit!

I saw a huge water spout off of a South Florida beach one day. It stayed in one place for at least a
half-hour. The cloud above it was just filling up with water, getting bigger and bigger. There was
a small boat out there the whole time, and very close, I thought they were foolish to not move away a safer distance.
The week after, one came ashore in Miami and did some damage. All was covered on the news that day, so
they are not always that harmless.
