We are staying at Gallows Point in 2C. Has anyone ever stayed there? Can you give me some information about it? We will be there 5/28-6/4. Is anyone else going to be there then?

Do we need a car? We want to go to all of the beaches. Can you walk to any of then from Gallows Point?

What is the price of the rental cars? Do you recommend reserving ahead of time or can we wait until we get there?

Only 18 days and I can't wait! It is our 20th Wedding Anniversary.

terri-

i personally recommend a car for a few of the days that you will be there. taxi fares are pretty high down here and they add up quick. as for reserving ahead of time, that's your call. if you want a car on the first day, then i would... but if you can hold off a couple days, you should be ok.

gallows point is wonderful. it is my personal favorite. whenever my wife and i need to get off this island (st croix), we tend to head over to st john or virgin gorda. if i remember correctly, 2c will be overlooking the water away from the ferry dock. that's nice because it will be a little quieter then if you were to be facing the pier. be sure to look for iguanas in front of your room.... they call that iguana point. i'm sure you'll see tons of them.

have fun and enjoy your stay on one of our wonderful islands!

Gallows point is one of the most centrally located spots to stay on the island. It is only $4.50 each to take a cab to Cinamon beach and you do not have to worry about parking. a jeep costs 480 a day plus gas and there is no where to park most places. If you just have to have a car rent it from conrad sutton.

The bus from Cruz Bay to coral bay and even on to salt pond bay is only $1.00 (one dollar) each way and it runs every hour.

However, if you are staying at gallows point you really do not need to go anywhere else. everything you need is right there.

see my web site on gallows point at:

Terri - we just got back from Gallow 2 weeks ago. We only rented a car for 2 days to hit the beaches that were farthest from (Waterlemon and Coral Bay). The only beaches you can walk to are Salomon and Honeymoon Beach, but it is about a mile hike on the Lind Point Trail, another alternative is to take a cab to Caneel Bay Resort and walk to the Honeymoon Beach from there (not a long walk at all). We took a cab to Trunk Bay.

You can actually do some fantastic snorkling at Frank Bay which is right next to Gallows Point. Also, the beach is fantastic with beach chairs already there.
