Has anyone ever been to, seen, or heard about weddings at Gallows Point on STJ? I'm having my ceremony/reception for about 30 people there (reception is not at ZoZo's, we're having it catered on the property)... I'm using a wedding planner, and I am sure everything will be beautiful and all.. just kind of wanted an outsiders point of view. The ceremony will be on the gazebo, and I've been told there is an area for dancing, etc for the reception.. we need it since we are having a band, but after looking at pics and the website, I can't see where that is. Thank you!

We were married in Las Vegas. You really don't splurge on a second one but it was very nice.

Now to Gallows. It is a great property and you can't beat the view from the gazebo. You won't go wrong. We stay there every year.

Now if it's between June28th and July 14th, can we come. or do I have to just watch from our unit.

I wonder if they're talking about an area around the pool. I'm not sure where that "dance area" would be.

Hi promoguy - why yes, we'll be there at the same time.. wedding is July 8, sunset... were going for lucky 07-07-07, but they already have a wedding on that date, so you get to see 2 in a row! I am really excited about staying at Gallows, I've never stayed there but my fiance' has and I've only heard wonderful things about it. We'll all be there from the 4th on.. some people will stay longer than others. I know there's another block during that time for the other wedding too.. so there will definitely be some celebrating going on! Which unit are you in? We may be neighbors. As far as the reception site.. I am thinking that it may be the part down from the pool, the deck area by the snorkeling beach. My wedding planner tells me this is a fairly new thing to hold the reception there, so we'll see how it goes!

That would make sense on the area for the band.

We'll be in 9A. But more important than that what's for dinner.

What time will you be arriving on the fourth? It's a big carnival day on St John and depending on when you arrive on the ferry, might mean some real negotiating of the street up to Gallows.

If you're there at night you see some great fireworks from the gazebo area. Say hi and if we have some tri tip left, we'll save you a morsel.

Congratulations on your wedding! I was at Gallows last July and there was a group there at the time who were part of a "wedding". Niether the wedding nor the reception was not held there (unless it was up at Zozo's and I didn't realize it). But one morning, the group set up a large catered "lunch" on the deck right in front of the snorkeling area. I must admit I was a tad annoyed since I love sitting there and popping down the stairs for a snorkle and then coming back up to lounge.

What dates will you be at Gallows? and how long will your "group" be there?

We have a block of rooms from the 5th till the 9th, with some staying a bit longer. My fiance and are leaving on the 9th to spend our honeymoon on JVD that next week. Most of us are arriving on the 4th, but due to the lack of rooms on that date (Carnival), we will be staying on STT that first night... makes it easier for us to get up and get our marriage license there the moring of the 5th anyway... I really hope we don't annoy anyone with the reception! It will probably go from 6:45 till 10 pm (the band has to stop at 10pm) Ceremony is at 6 pm... I'm sure we will make friends with our neighbors while we are there that can come celebrate with us at the reception.. we are very laid back people and make friends very easy, especially on vacation!

Katie, don't worry about us. We mix well. Actually my wife better than me. But given good food and lots of booze, I can actually be quite a nice person. If you need an older guy to be part of the ceremony, I can also do that on the cheap....well again for food.

I have some gallows pictures at www.pbase.com/promoguy101
