Hello Friends,

My fiancee and I will be making our first visit to St. John for our honeymoon later this year and we're looking for some help in finding a place to stay. We had made arrangements for accommodations that unfortunately have fallen through - a long story that I won't bore you with. So, we are scrambling to find suitable accommodations for our honeymoon which is now just 10 weeks away! We aren't in need of anything too luxurious, just nice, clean, private accommodations from friendly people.

We've come across Gardenia - a garden apartment rented by Cloud 9 Villas (www.cloud9villas.com/Gardenia). It looks very nice, though I've been unable to find many reviews of the property. Please help if you've stayed there or even if you've stayed at Palmello (just above Gardenia) we'd love to hear what you thought! We're also open to any suggestions that you may have for another villa that would be good for us (our hope is to spend between $700 & $1000 for a week). Though the less expensive the better

Thanks to all for your help!
Brian

brian,

bride &I stayed 1 night at gardenia in dec 04 prior to a weeks stay at moonsong. only 2 things missing from her being a great small villa, no view or pool but that's fully reflected in her rates. i know of no other place her size and equipment for under $100 per night. like all c9 villas (stayed at c9 3 times, moonsong twice and sundance once), we found gardenia clean, well maintained and well equipped for stj vacation including beach chairs, coolers etc. good convenient location but you will need a car for transportation.

property manager, marcey appel, is very accommodating, responsive and informative (she has lived on island for several years just up the road). you will not find a better bargain on the island (and imho moonsong is island's best value with a view). if had to choose between a more expensive viilla and less madd money for other things while on my 1st stj vacation, i'd go with gardenia and use the extra money for other funthings on island such as sunset sail, renting a dinghy, lunches at skinny legs, ship wreck and the many fun places in cruz bay.

We also stayed at Moonsong several years ago and had a great experience. The owners/property managers of Cloud 9 are very nice and wonderful to rent from. I would definitely stay in one of their villas again.
