By the gallon. Depending on which boats you rent and where you go it can range from $100 - $150 in gas. Typically when I take visitors out we head from St Thomas to Jost and Willie Ts and the gas bill is around $150 but I rent fuel efficient boats from Pocket Yachts.

I hope this helps.

On STT fuel prices are generally about 20 to 25 cents higher at the fuel docks than if you were to drive up to a gas station on island. So, it's in the $3.50 ish range for gas.
