*Hi,

We will be in ST. John on Wed 29th and in ST. Thomas on the 30th. We would like to spend a day in Jost. How can we get there without having to pay $250 each way with a private water taxi? Thanks

At the top of this board is a icon for ferry schedule it will have the schdeule for the ferries that run from STT & STJ to Jost, only on weekends Fri,Sat. & Sun.

If you are not able to make that work for your schedule, there are several Capts. on StJ that will take you there, I have never paid $250.00 even round trip. Check out the waywardsailor, very knowledgeable will get you to some great snorkeling, and then you spend time on the island.

The only prolbem is that you do not have all day there.

Good Luck,

Yes the $250 is a private taxi, which means you come and go as you please. But what RM is talking about is the larger boats that do day trips. Most are in the $80-$120 range for the day. One out of St Thomas is Daydreamer, and I believe Limnos stops there on some of there charters, I'm not sure about the ones on St John since I live on St Thomas.

If you have between 4-8 people your best bet to save money and for a better time is to rent a boat for the day $400 which includes gas and motor over there yourself, and if you don't feel comfortable driving the boat I'd be happy to do it for you for free. That way you can be on your own schedule and get a little tour on the way over there, and stop at some cool snorkeling spots.

Jost is worth the swim over there....before anyone freaks out I'm just kdding don't try to swim...
