Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had some info on the house "Glenmar". I did read one frightening review on this site and was hoping for a shred of hope since I have already reserved it. Please let me know! Thanks!

darlene,

i did search for the negative post you mentioned because while i was on stj in dec 05 my buddy and i where on a trip on pirates penny to vigin gorda with a family (mom, dad and teen son) from the northeast and they really ripped glenmar. not overly friendly but definitely not rude but they were very outspoken about their villa experience.

my search turned up a post by Lyn Locke re their trip 12/8 to 15 2005. well that was week i was there and the post expresses most of the displeasure they expressed to complete stanger (me) who asked an innocent question, "where ya'll staying?" while they may have just had a bad week, their verbal comments followed by the post sure raise reasons for inquiry.

while my post probably adds nothing to help sooth your fears, i felt compelled to respond. we had begun booking glenmar for our ist trip to stj oct 2004 (before i found this chat board) but a slight schedule change resulted in our finding another villa (sundance above hart bay and chocolate hole) that really helped in making our ist trip to stj shear joy. thus when i met the couple in dec 05 (my 5th trip to stj in 15 months), i was most thankful that my 1st stay on stj was not at glenmar. YET, i had found the lady at the rental company very curteous and most helpful to a ist timer and was disappointed to get the negative ist hand report on glenmar.

there are too many villas with great reviews to take a chance was bad lodging. since you have already booked, you may want to make a direct inquiry to the rental agency/property manager to see if there is another side to the story. i will add we were on gifft hill and apparently not too far from glemar and don't remember a lot of power outages. i was curious then and now, why would someone burn expensive fuel to run a generator if there's no electrical outage. they had also talked about how many times they had stayed at the westin and what agreat place to stay that was. the family may have been "resorty" types and not accustomed to ruffing it in a villa with a view that required you to make your own bed, and drive to the beach (i've never been to the westin beach but from what i've read on this and other vi chat boards, the beach at the westin may rank in the bottom 10 percentile o fthe best stj beaches. oh well.

good luck on some other feed back.

Thanks for the response, I hope your right about them being the "resort" type. As for me, I am easy to please and can make my own bed! 🙂 I picked this home out for our family, so I will feel bad if it turns out to be not that great. But no matter what, I will make the best of it, after all I will be on a beautiful island!
