Good time of the day to everyone.

I was wondering if somebody could recommend a beach with good diving / jumping stones. When I say diving I don't mean like scuba diving, I mean more like: run up to the edge and jump - and the water is deep and there are no stones below, and it's easy get back up and jump again. Sort of like this:

But most likely like this:

Thank you

A chief feature of the VI is sandy beaches. We have very few cliffs, and those that we do have (the tip of Peterborg comes to mind) aren't suitable for junping and climbing back up.

Your pictures remind me of Acapulco. Def not the USVI. There is one jumping spot at the Baths on Virgin Gorda. Pirate's Penny and Stormy Petrel used to have a guided tour ending up on top of this huge rock- about 500 feet in the air- and you had to jump to get back to the boat. Scared me plum to death. I don't know if they still do it as I would think there could be some liability issues!

This is the reason they don't want to make you a state! The sandy beaches, the other 50 states will die of envy 🙂

It's a pity, but not a disappointment - just thought I'd ask - I haven't done much diving for a while - no good / affordable diving pools / areas in Chicago area. Some in Wisconsin - but not many.

Thanks

East Ender - are you from Texas? Are you sure it's 500 feet? 🙂

For most people - 10 meters (30 feet - standard olympic jump) is too much to handle. There are very few cases where people survived jumps over 50 meters (~150 feet), but those are usually freak cases. That's higher than - Spring_Temple_Buddha which is the tallest statue in the world by about 80 feet.

I don't believe 12 or 500 FT

I will go with an even 50FT: D

When I was 22 I think 12 was probably right
but now I have crossed the 50 threshold and I think they have been growing
so I am going with 50

Actually, there a quite a few great sites to dive from, but not near a beach...

Christmas cove has a few ledges, on St James Island...not too high but it was sure high enough when i was a kid.
Next step up is the Bordeaux cliffs, on the road next to the old ruins by the girl scout camp. Cliffs plenty high enough
to scare even a good diver, but if there's a swell the rocky pool below can be a death trap, a guy named Eddie Mevs died there when I was in grade school cause he downed when the swell came in.
The final place if you figger you're one of those acapulco type divers is Carvel rock, the end of a small chain of islands to the north of St John. On the north east side of this rock are some rocks you can step onto, and climb as high as you like to dive off. It's a grea diving site, with deep blue water to dive into. Good luck, but be careful.
