Thank you so much for your report. Read it yesterday and when wife got home last night had her read it. I got a kick out of hearing her laugh at the remarks you made in your trip report. we both agreed it was so much like a lot that happen to us. Sure brought back a lot of good memories. Your trip over the mountain in the jeep was so funny. Got us talking about a hike we took over what they laughingly call heart attach hill from Cruz bay back to where we were staying at Coconut coast Villas. D&B

One of the best trip reports that I have read. I followed you every step of the way. We are frequent Skinny's customers and also Love City Market. Went to every beach with you! Relived our recent trip and also coming back to a snowstorm! By the way I'm a big Patriots fan and don't wear my Pats gear to St. John. Skinnys is big Patriot territory as well as Red Sox as one of the owners is from MA. We plan to try Sweet Plantains when we go back in July. Do you know Marcia and Pete from the AOL board? They're from Madison I do believe.

It looked to me that St. John is a big east coast and espically the New Englad area.

Thanks - I'm STILL getting typos (some call them miss spelled words) out and I also hope to have other trip website links as I see them.

Island Paul - yea - sorry - we never really hada chance. We were always in a rush to do nothing LOL! Only part we saw of St. Thomas was the two routes by the taxi's.

We'll be back

Great trip report - best I've ever read! We're heading to STT for a week near Hull Bay in May - will be day-tripping over to STJ. We love Island Blues! First time I tried to give a fry to that doggy I almost lost a finger - we were there for an early lunch and I guess pickins had been slim since the night before - lol. Now that you have the driving on STJ down, the next trip try renting at the STT airport and taking the car ferry from Red Hook - you'll love it and DJ won't have to keep her eyes on the bags - she can enjoy the view!

My husband and I returned fron STJ the last day in Jan and also relived every detail of the trip as we had similar experiences. I enjoyed woody's burgers as much as skinny legs. (it does say woody seafood but I also am not a fish eating person) This was our third trip and we are already planning next year. We drove thru Madison on our way home also as we live near the big town of Prairie du Chien. Since we went with our neighbors, we did not do the park and fly. We just left home at midnight and slept on the plane. Driving home is so sad. and cold. Now if spring would just get here...

Great trip report. We're going in July. You mentioned Francis Bay. I've been to many of the beaches, but I don't remember that one. The kids would love to see sea turtles. Can anyone give me any information about Francis Bay? Driving directions, accessibility, etc.? Thanks!

Head towards Maho Bay Campground and you'll see the entrance to Francis Bay. Very family friendly....easy access for young and old. A local shop owner told me to take a right once you're on the beach and about 2/3 of the way down the beach, swim towards the buoys. I tried it and there were the turtles. Its been on the money the past 2 years and we'll be back down at carnival time in July to check them out again. Enjoy and make sure you check out Skinny Legs for some casual dining and great drinks....one of our regular watering holes!!!! Tell Doug that Kurt and Judy sent you.

This was great. Looking at the pictures makes my heart ache. We have been to St. John twice in the past three months, and it wouldn't take much to get us there again.

Grinder,

This may sound ridiculous, but the picture of the donkey with his head in your car puts the biggest smile on my face. Thanks!!

Awesome trip report. Loved the pictures - they were fantastic. I want to go back to St. John so bad and your report makes me want to go back even more now. I cannot wait until my husband and I can return for our anniversary sometime. We were married last June on Hawksnest beach and stayed in a private villa on the southwest side of the island. I miss the beaches and the snorkling. Too bad you didnt' get to see a sea turtle while at Francis. They are magical to swim with!

GREAT REPORT!!!!!

This is the best trip report I have ever read. The final page about driving home, missing the turn etc. is novel material. I wish I could write this well. I would love to see more photographs. This article needs to be indexed somewhere so I do not have to run through all the previous messages to find it.
