Does anyone have any details about this? I just started receuving the newsletter too, I'm going to be down on the island mid august and this place was high on my list of beaches to visit (after reading some of the things people here said about it)

I can't imagine why anyone would be there at that time. It gets dark here pretty early!

I could imagine but then I would get in trouble for negativity.

It is just part of common sense. You don't go to any remote places after dark. It does get dark on island earlier than the states this time of year. Common sense dictates that after dark you should be at your resort or villa or condo, or restaurant, bar, etc.

(warning - sarcastic comment coming..) The most important reason to not be wondering beaches or outdoors late at night...the wolf spiders come out and many other 'unpleasant' creatures. Back me up Ron. We know it is true!

Cassandra,

Just a word of common sense to you. If you are planning on visiting any of the beaches on the island, do so during the day. Lindqvist is a beautiful beach. But, by 7:55 PM it is pitch dark outside on STT. Not a good time to be on any beach there unless you are up to no good.

Well thank you all for your comments, I feel much better. It's light out here until 10pm, so I wasn't thinking 8pm was too late to be at the beach. Thanks for clearing it all up!

Cassandra, watch the webcam - you'll be surprised at how much earlier the sun goes down and can plan accordingly. You'll be worn out at the end of the day anyway from having too much fun...

Ronnie - I'll say it out loud - thugs and drugs.

Yes, that's the only thing about the VI - it sure does get dark early. Isn't it dark by 6:30?

Here, it's still light at 9 - 9:30 in summer.

We are usually back to our villa after the day's adventures by twilight (which is my favorite part of the day), unless we are having dinner. Hells, wer're usually in bed by 9:30. It does get dark super early so it actually feels later, especially after it's been dark for a while.

I'm sure most people don't go out looking for trouble and I think it's easy to lose track of your paranoias being in paradise trying to relax but I do agree that using good common sense and safety precautions is sound advice.

Anyone local would know not to be on this beach at night - no way - no how. What goes on at the remote beaches at night is not for a tourist to worry about.

I bet there's much more to this story.....

As a greeter for McLaughlin Anderson, we are not allowed to recommend Lindqvist Beach at ANY time of day! It is a beach, tho beautiful, that I discourage tourists from going to. Bottom line, going there at all, is a risk.
