Well, we decided after much searching around, that no island is as perfect as STJ so we're coming back in November!!! Pia/Les, Max/Irene- we'll be in touch later! Anyway, we're thinking about staying at the Harmony studios at Maho this time (having been in the Maho and Concordia tent cabins 3 other times) BUT- I need honest opinions on the heat level at night in the studios. We saw them years ago on a visit but we didn't sleep in them and I wasn't subject to "warm flashes" then which made sleeping at Concordia very difficult this past November as the heat was awful and fans non-existant. We're hoping Harmony might be cooler? We know there are ceiling fans and box fans available. Your opinions please if you've ever stayed at the Harmony studios. Thanks- can't wait to return- funny how easy the decision was once we admitted to each other that we didn't care about staying anywhere else...

I am writing because I found this forum valuable when we made our trip to St John in May 2006. We stayed in Harmonie Studios and had a great time. We made our visit at the very, beginning of the "low" season. I won't kid you. It was 83 degrees during the day we were there and the nights were in the mid-seventies. Fans are required and there are plenty of windows and an entire wall of screened deck doors which you leave open all the time. The temps cool off noticibley during the evening, requiring a sheet on the bed (that's all) with two fans running. There was absolutely no breeze on our hillside as the wind was from east/south all the time we were there. If the wind blew from the north (maybe during other seasons, you should ask), there would have been a nice breeze at the Camps. The benifit of no breeze is clear, calm waters in Little Maho Bay for swimming! We stayed in 4B, a lower unit. BTW...you could not see the ocean (well maybe a piece of it) from this unit. The resturant has great food at not too expensive prices.

Thanks Mitch! We've stayed at Maho 3 times before we we are very, very familiar with Maho in general but we never stayed at the Harmony Studios before. I am very concerned about nightime heat and humidity in the Studio units but of course when you talk with someone from Maho directly no one seems to want to offer opinions on the heat and humidity level at night. . We stayed at the Concordia tent cabins during our last trip in Nov 05 and while we loved Concordia, there were NO fans in the tent cabins other than 4" or so tiny ones above the beds which were useless. So we sweat alot at night as there was wind only the first night or so and I didn't look forward to repeating that. The info on the fans is helpful, thanks. We couldn't reserve an upper unit as they are already reserved so we too will have a lower unit and we know that you can't see the Bay from there. That's ok, we know what it looks like! Did you find the beds comfortable? The website says king size beds in the units but our reservation confirmation says two twin beds so I assume they put them side by side. Did you find the neighbors noisy at all or did you feel that the walls kept out most noise? We do love the location and are counting the months until we return.
