I contacted Cpt Clark of White Wing and he isn't able to take us on a day sail to Sandy Spit. He mentioned a cataraman named Soma and said it was the only other "sail" option he knew of that included a stop at Sandy Spit. Has anyone else used them? Thanks!

Capt. Nils on Soma (340-344-3520) gives an amazing trip. I captain a powerboat business daily (Soma and Lion in Da Sun are neighbors in the Cruz bay mooring field) but when my family came down last month Nils and his crew Chris took us all out for a day and it was really awesome to go so fast on a sailboat! I hit 21.3 knots with my turn at the tiller! They include drinks. No joke, yesterday Nils told me he hit 24 knots. I saw them from Sandy Cay (the larger of the two beach islands) moving across the water in the distance and when I caught up to him in White Bay he said they had touched 24 knots for a solid minute and had averaged 20 knots all day.

They can do Sandy Spit, lunch somewhere on Jost and still have time for White Bay and the Soggy Dollar Bar in the afternoon. And they will sail everywhere unlike some of the other charter sailboats that do trips to Jost.

Josh, thanks! I've looked at your charters too. We're not huge snorklers but I'd love to spend a day at sea and at least spend some time at Sandy Spit. Do you guys do a tour like that? If so, can you give me an idea of prices? If you don't head there, do you know who else might? Many thanks. I think Soma sounds a bit...fast...for me. LOL!
