My wife and I celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary yesterday and decided to go to Havana Blue, as we hadn't been there since they opened in November. One of my wife's employees works there at nite as the maitre'd, so we had the best table. The ambiance is great, very classy, way cool bathrooms (the tile looks wet, the sink is supercool, and there is a recording of waves lapping at the beach playing all the time). She had the lump crab appetizer (I can't remember what it was called on the menu, as I couldn't even pronounce it! Haha!) while I had the crunchy shrimp for my appy. Both were great. We shared and both of us loved them. I ordered the braised short ribs (Santa Maria?) and Tiffany had the filet mignon. The filet was a little spicey for her taste, but I thought it was fantastic. We both really like the ribs alot, as they were very tender. The presentation of the food, on huge square plates, while in that ambiance, makes it taste even better! haha! The polenta that came with my ribs was freakin' dynamite! Never had that before, so I don't know how it compares, but it was good! The onions that are deep fried (I'm guessing, as I wasn't in the kitchen! Haha!) without batter and used as a garnish were very pretty, but they tasted great, too! We shared a Havana Banana for desert and I LOVE that dish now! Very tasty! We didn't order any drinks at all, as we had brought a bottle of Martinelli sparkling grape juice as our 'champagne'. The total was $102, plus $24 tip. $130 total was worth it, to my wife and I. However, we can get food that pleases the palate just as well, or better, for less, but the atmosphere at Havan Blue is hard to beat. I'd say that Zak has done a fabulous job with it and I would rate it in the top 5 on island.

You didn't finish your meal with one of their $175 pre-embargo Cubans? I have a hard time believing that a 50yr old cigar is still good. Great place though. Just curious, what other places round out your top 5 Marty?

But that's THIS week! Next week they might be different! Haha! SOOOO much good food here! I'm eating my wife's leftovers right now and, DAMN! This is GOOD! Yumyum!!!!!

Not a cigar fan, sorry!
