After much help from this board and finally getting thru to a human at Trac phone I'm finding out that Trac phones do work on STJ and are really economical (to avoid roaming on our regular cell phones). The one thing they told me is that it's better to purchase the phone on STJ because if we purchased one here (VT) the same model phone might not be offered on the island and therefore the service unavailable.

Do any of you locals (or tourists) now where to purchase one on STJ?

We've been coming down there for 6 years so we know the island very well but I don't want to spend lots of time running around trying to find one. If anyone knows of a store (perhaps dolphin or starfish?!) that cells disposable trac phones (or any others for that matter, Sprint, AT &T etc.) could you please forward the info to me.

I'd hate to cut into drinking and beach time looking for a phone 🙂

12 more days and counting until 3 weeks in paradise

Thanks for all your help

Jill

Thanks Jill

I live on STT, and have a TRAC phone I purchased from Office Max in Tutu Park Mall (near the big KMart/Plaza Extra). I have it as a back-up in case there's an emergency, and my primary phone doesn't work.

Office Max puts them on sale frequently, and you can get them for less than $20 w some air time. I think they're more expensive at Radio Shack. I think they also have them at KMart, but not 100% sure on that.

We will only be on STT long enough to get out of the airport and onto the ferry so I'm looking to buy a phone on STJ not STT but thanks for the info.

If anyone knows where on STJ to buy one that would be great!

The only place on STJ that I can think of that might carry them would be Connections in Cruz Bay. You might be able to make Internet phone calls from there if no Tracfones are available.
