Hello,
We are planning to go to St. John for our honeymoon in August and were looking at Terry's Honeymoon Cottage ( http://www.stjohnusvivillas.com/honeymooncottage.htm). We are having a tough time finding reviews about it anywhere on the usvi forums. Has anyone stayed there before and can share their opinion ?. Any information will be much appreciated. We are looking for a nicely decorated place which is well done and not "rustic".

Other places we are looking at are "Blue Aweigh" Cottage and Bongo Bongo.

Thanks !

PS: Lots of good information on this site, helped me decide on USVI and St. John 🙂 . Big thanks to everyone who's posted here.

We stayed here several years ago before it was remodeled. We liked it a lot, the location was great! But it was VERY rustic. I've looked at the pictures and it looks like they have expanded and remodeled. But, frankly, the pictures still look pretty rustic to me.

When we were there, there was no bathtub and the the shower was outside - that's what they mean by "garden bathroom". You need to call the rental folks and be sure you know exactly what you are getting.

But again, we loved it and the location was great.

I read the blog about Bongo Bongo for months and if you can afford to stay there, it looks like it's beautiful. The owners put alot of hard work into making that villa perfect. Even though I haven't been there, I'd look into more.

I haven't stayed at Honeymoon Cottage, but stayed at Sea Spirit which Terry also owns. She is fantastic to work with. Really a nice lady.
If Bongo Bongo is in you price range, you might want to look at Memory Daze (www.windspree.com). It looks fantastic from the web site and it is close to Coral Bay which is much more low key than Cruz Bay. If you want luxury, I don't think you can go wrong with either Bongo Bongo or Memory Daze.

We have used Caribbean Villas and Resorts for villa rentals and have not been disappointed. Great service. Meet you at the Cruz Bay dock with your rental car. Took us to the grocery stores and then led us to our villa. Very helpful and friendly. If there is a problem at your villa they are right on top of it. They have a nice selection of villas all over St Johns. Try their website http://www.caribbeanvilla.com/. On the Coral Bay side of St Johns we rented Rainbow Beach which is waterfront, not a great swimming beach but a super view. A/C in bedrooms. Great pool and hot tub arrangement.

Also suggest Palladio's View. See http://www.palladiosview.com/ Incredible views, great breeze but no A/C. Super pool and hot tub. Suggest you rent a 4 wheel drive for this house. Well worth it. Caribbean Villas and Resorts doesn't handle this property.

The other place I looked at but haven't rented is called Blue Tang. See http://www.bluetang.vi/ .We haven't stayed their yet but it looks super.
