My fiance and I are hoping to go to St. John for our honeymoon next summer. We would be there June 30-July 7, so in the heart of Carnival, which we're excited about because we've heard such fun things about it.

As of now, we're most seriously looking at the Tropical Breeze villa at Battery Hill, but the owner has kindly told us that it can stay pretty noisy due to its close proximity to Cruz Bay and all the activities of Carnival. She said some people love it, but others may find it discouraging.

We're a young couple (will be 25 on honeymoon) so we still like to have a good time and are excited about the opportunity of extra activity during Carnival. With it being our Honeymoon though, we also don't want it to feel like college spring break, with constant partiers keeping us from getting any sleep.

Is this a legit concern? Will the noise of Carnival negatively affect our stay at Battery Hill? Or will it offer an opportunity to experience a happening time on St. John, while still having the chance to experience the beauty and laid-back island that is St. John?

Any opinions appreciated! Thanks!!

we live on Stt on Sapphire Beach and we hear the noise during Carnival. And we go each year and love it. I guess you need to get more feedback on the actual noise levels. But it is all in great fun.

It will be loud every night while you are there. I stayed with my friend outside of Cruz Bay this year and heard it from her house above Enighed Pond and Battery Hill was between us and the music!

We traveled to St John the exact same dates in 07 and got married and had our honeymoon during that time. We (age 26, 28) stayed at the Gallows on the ocean side. During the carnival week, we could hear the music each night pretty loud until about midnight-1am. If you are staying up that late each night to begin with, then it won't be a problem.

Also, we had no trouble driving around or eating out other then on July 4th. July 4th, pretty much all the roads in cruz bay area are shut down for the parade, etc, so you would want to plan around that.

Would I do it again? Yes! It was a great time.
