I want to plan a visit to St.Thomas within the next month or so. I'm in the process of a possible divorce 🙁 and need to get away from the cold and let the sun and water work on healing my heart. I need to travel cheap (don't laugh), so I'd like to find someone who could use a house-sitter for a week or so. My travel dates are flexible and I do have some friends who live in STT to use for a reference. I also have references from local people that I have rented from on previous trips. If anyone knows of someone looking for a house-sitter, please let me know.

Thanks.

I think you might have better luck convincing your friends to let you sleep on the sofa. Usually house sitting jobs are given to people one knows personally. And they aren't easy to come by at that.

I agree with EE. It is very unlikely that you will find such a job. People who don't want to rent and don't want their house empty are going to find a friend, a friend of a friend, a child of a friend, their child's school teacher ... well, you get the idea. Otherwise, they'd rent the house out.

But good luck.

Unfortunately my friends live on a small boat so the sofa is out of the question. I knew it would be very unlikely to find such an opportunity, but it doesn't hurt to check all avenues. Thanks for the replies though.
