We will be on the island for a while starting this Thursday. I was wondering how green the island is right now as opposed to being dry looking. Has there been enough rain to green it up a bit?

I was just there last week, and it's pretty dry right now.

The rains usually hit in May and the island will be green soon after.

Hi from the Divi in St Croix - They have free internet! Everything is very dry. On the positive side, the weather has been perfect since we got here on Saturday.

Hi Kerry, we are also arriving on Thursday. We are staying at Villa Turquesa. Where are you staying at?

Hope we all have a great time and great weather!

Kerry and Paula,

Hi kids!

Well returned from St Croix on April 1st. Had a great time as usual. I don't think it was any drier than the last two years but it did rain pretty good on Mar 31st from afternoon and through the night. The morning we left (Apr 1st) at o-dark thirty it was so steamy it reminded me of Panama.

New place to eat in Christiansted. DeeAnna's formerly the Indies. It's Turtles sub shop during week-days and DeeAnna's from 4 PM on. Week-end's it's DeeAnna's again. We stopped for drinks one night and they had entertainment, met the whole family and had a great time. On Sun morning we stopped by after having breakfast at Rummrunner's and listening and chatting with Bill Bass. Purchased a couple more of his albums. Anyway, we weren't hungry when we got to DeeAnna's about 1:30 PM but had a drink and chatted with one of the daughters. The daughters had bragged about their mother's biscuits and gravy so I asked about that. They asked if we wanted and we said we were full but we'd split an order. Anyway, biscuits and gravy to die for we thought.

I started to send you this message in an email and about 3/4's of the way thru it magically deledted so went to Islander's more reliable forum. Have a great trip! We're going to try and work in about three weeks next March and make sure we're there all day for St Paddies day.

Hi Denise. We will be in a condo at Coakley Bay. We really enjoy staying there in that area. I'm sure we will all have a great time even if the weather throws a few passing showers our way. Being in St. Croix on it's worst days is still better than most southeast Texas days!

SandCrab,

Glad to hear you guys had a good time. We were waiting to hear from you. We will certainly try DeeAnna's. We have a restaurant list made out and are going to focus on some we don't seem to get around to this time. We'll let you know how it's going. We take our laptop with us so we will be checking our email.

I hope you get 3 weeks next time. We have been lucky to be able to stay 3+ weeks on our visits. You really get into the flow of things and it's true relaxation not having to hurry and cram in this and that.

Don't put biscuits and gravy in front of a southern boy. It might get messy!!

I sent you an email Sandcrab. Yes, please don't put biscuits and gravy in front of Kerry-- at least without a lobster bib! 19 hours until we leave for the Houston airport to start our trip!!:)

Sandcrab,

You were right about DeeAnna's buscuits and sausage gravy. It was good...and plenty of it! I couldn't quite finish it all that early in the morning. I looked over at Paula and she was working on some wicked looking French toast with bananas and whipped cream all over them. I checked out the menu and she has a big one. Lot's of stuff to choose from. Will need to try there again some afternoon.

One week left before we go back home. Been hot today with very little wind. Still a great day.

Kerry
