I'm looking at flights for November and the best one I can find into STT in early afternoon from Washington DC has a 35 minute layover in San Juan. There is a later flight to STT from San Juan so it is possible to get on the next flight (if they have room) in case we missed it. We'll be traveling with young children. It seems strange that they will even let you book it this way. Do you have to go through customs or is it easy to get from plane to plane? This is on American.

Thanks!

couldn't wait for an answer. went to cheaptickets and changed my flight to eliminate san juan. i had to pay cheapticket's 50.00 (2) fee and had to give up the 251.00 voucher I probably could have gotten from American Airlines, but I didn't want to chance having to fly in there and getting my trip off to a bad start. So..net charge to me is an extra 100.00, but I get to fly into miami and then onto stt, and the same way coming back. now i have a 4.5 hour layover in miami airport. no worries tho. thanx

Hi,
I considered doing the same thing but didn't want to make a mistake with all the ticket info, times, etc. I'm just hoping that there will not be any problems! 🙂 Like I said I'll just pack light and try to get most things into my carry on. I did want to bring some bottles of rum home for my family but it sounds like it would be a waste of time.
