how to get from stt st martin

One of the couples that is going with us in Jan wants to go to st martin for 4 day s after the week is over whats the best way is there local airline. I checked the travel sites it would cost more then the flight down from Chicago or is there a ferry

Liat use to have a one way fare (1 way) for about $80.
