Hello to all here! My fiance and I are getting married this May, and we are in need of some advice? We came down to the VI last year, and had a wonderful time. We would like to stay in a villa on St. John for our honeymoon( entire month of May), yet we would like to bareboat charter a boat for a few days to venture into the BVI, Jost and Tortola, etc. Can anyone offer suggestions? We would like a very nice place to stay for our honeymoon, nice and romantic! She is a special lady, and I would love for her to have the trip of our lifetimes! Please help, she is ever so important to me! Thank you all in advance! This board is awesome!( we love Cruz Bay by the way)

Congrats!

Do you have a budget or do you want us to recommend based on other criteria? STJ has tons of luxurious, romantic, special villas for honeymooners, old and young 😉

For a honeymoon, my first thought is Gibney Beach Cottage.

I think you're going to have a hard time finding a house for the whole month of May this late in the game. My best advise is contact several agents and see what they can do for you. You'll probably have to move around staying at several house rather than being able to say put.

Don't know if you can bareboat for just a couple of days either.

Good luck.

Diana makes a very good point. I totally slept the fact that this is THIS May.

Here is what I know is available for the month of May...

Ginger Thomas
Crow's Nest
Peter Bay Beach House
Wild Jasmine North and Wild Jasmine South

I'm sure there are quite a few more, but I don't have immediate insight to most of it without searching each one.

I recommend Peter Bay Beach House on this list.

Hope is has a HUGE budget if he plans to stay at PB Beach House for a month. Can I come to, Phatboy? I'll be your cook! I'll be very quiet. You'll never know I'm there.

Diana-

LOL....I know. But, I never make assumptions about another's purse. And if you get to cook for him, I'll stand beside you and fan you with a palm as you work....deal?

LOL You've got a deal. You can be in charge of mixing the fruit coolers while I slave over the meals in that heavenly villa.

And after I mix those fruit coolers, I'll go sleep on the beach bed! Pater Bay Beach House takes the concept of a day bed to a new level.

I don't know the rental market on St John in May.

However...In the past we came to Virgin Islands and moved around and had a wonderful time. Our last trip to that part of the Caribbean included a 20 day stay on Tortola (at two different places) One near road town and a week at Cane garden Bay...What a wonderful time.

We then took the ferry to St John and moved into a great villa overlooking Coral Bay. We enjoyed that place for almost two weeks before we sadly took our flight for home.

If the early posters are right and you are not able to stay in the same place for a month...then look around. You will probably save money and have a great time.

I know that on St croix you can "negotiate" a one month stay for much less that four weekly rentals.

I recommend you check out

http://www.vacationvistas.com/

Lisa Durgin is very helpful and we have always had great vacations. It appears from my quick review that there is at least some availability for the time you plan to go.

There are a few charter boats that will take you for less than a week, but you will probably pay a premium. Why not do one week on a charter and three on land?? I just posted this: http://www.stewartyachtcharters.com/ on another thread. Ellen is a local charter broker, might be able to help you find something.

My son and his wife were married last May at the Frenchman's Reef and honeymooned at Caneel Bay on STJ. They loved it!
