I am not sure if this has been posted before, but I am trying to find this out quickly. Are there internet cafes in St Thomas and St John? My husband does not want to bring along his laptop and if his job does not make us postpone our trip (Oct 27), he might need to be doing work from the lovely islands via the internet. His backup person is having emergency surgery and will be out for 6 weeks. We are hoping that his job does not tell us he can't go as we both have been looking forward to this vacation for months. If there is internet access, then they might let us still take the trip.

There's a store, and i don't know the name, but as soon as you get off the ferry at St John and you take a right, you'll end up right in front of a gift store that has internet access.

Lizard, you can shop and he can get on the internet there.

Also on St. John, there is an internet-cafe-type place on the second floor of the Marketplace, which has plenty of shops to keep you busy while your husband does his work. Good luck!

How about on St Thomas as we will be spending most of our stay there (only two nights in St John)? I do like the idea of shopping while he works! But since he is a man who loves to shop (I know, aren't I lucky?), he might be mad if I shopped without him. Maybe I should just stay on the beach/pool while he is working. What a terrible sacrifice.

Plenty on STT. Should have one at your Hotel if you are staying at one. Havensight has several internet cafes. Downtown has several and the East End has a couple.

We stayed at the Wyndham Sugar Bay and there were three computers in the lobby that you could use. They charge you though.

In Red Hook the East End Secretarial Service has free Internet service. In Charlotte Amalie the 2nd floor at Tiffany's has a free Internet service. If serious work needs to be done, Beans & Bytes in the Royal Dane Mall is your best bet - pay for the usage, coffee and goodies while you work if you'd like and you can always shop while he works right there.

There is also a sandwich place in Mongoose Junction that has a few (pay) computers with internet access.

Thanks everyone!!!!! I will tell him that he will be covered to work via the internet if necessary. We are staying one night at the Green Iguana, several nights at Bluebeards Castle Hotel and 2 nights at the Westin St John.

Tell him to take a lead from the Corona commercials and toss all work related communication tools into the water. That's why they call it a vacation.

Chris:
We both wish that was possible, he never wants to work on vacations. But his job might tell him that if he is not available to fix problems, then our trip will need to be cancelled. Keeping our fingers crossed that his backup will be out of the hospital and being able to fix things from her home if necessary. But we also do not want her to strain herself either.

Bluebeard's Castle does not have computers to use. If you HAVE to bring a laptop you can get a wireless signal. I paid $19.95 for 7 days the second week of September.

I don't know about the other two.
