Hi Milwaukeeans.

I'll be spending a couple of weeks in June at the Medical College of Wisconsin and I've booked a room at the Residence Inn in Brookfield. Classes each day are 9-4; will I being going with or against rush hour traffic? If I'm going with the traffic, is it bad enough that I should consider staying elsewhere or is Brookfield close enough to the College that the traffic inconsequential? Also, any special restaurants or shops I shouldn't miss?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

yup...I'm pretty close to Milwaukee....tho far enough away!!
Brookfield is a nice place to stay! LOTS & LOTS of good places to eat...you won't go home hungry!!
Not sure about the traffic....I try real hard to NOT do Milwaukee....but I do go into Brookfield to shop!
At times, traffic can be tough.....but that's whay I just learned in St. Thomas in December....traffic was horrendous!!
We think the traffic was worse in St. Thomas.
The school will be close to the zoo interchange, less than 1/2 hr. drive on the Interstate back to Brookfield...should be OK.
Nice weather here now....will you be here for end of June? That's when Summerfest starts. HUGE music festival on the lakefront.

Let me know how else I can help,

Thanks for the reassurance about Brookfield. I'll be there the first two weeks in June so I'll miss Summerfest.

I live only a couple of miles from brookfield, traffic in the morning can be bad but at that time of day I would think that you should be fine. As far as shopping Brookfield square is probably where you want to be. Tons of shops, but they are doing some remodeling so theres construction going on there. There are tons of restaurants in the area, too many to list. You have mcdonalds and all the fast food, I suggest that you go down bluemound road which is also highway "18" there are tons of shops there and restaurants also.

Thanks for the advice. It sounds like Brookfield will meet my needs. I'm especially looking forward to cruising the grocery stores and admiring the fabulous produce and practically give-away prices - HA! 😀

Shopping at Mayfair mall lots of shops and restaurants... not to miss is the Zoo less than a mile from medical college. Take North avenue by Mayfair mall west to 124 st... for a very nice grocey store Sendick's and Kohl's department store. Hope this helps.

Hi I was glad to get your reply... we are cruising to St. Thomas and St. Marten in less than 2 weeks... plan a catamaran sail on St. Marten and then walking around... but nothing planned for St. Thomas...any ideas which quiet beach to go to? I was thinking of Coki, Sapphire or Honeymoon Beach..Thanks . M

Coki and Sapphire are not quiet beaches. Sapphire has a large resort, Coki has Coral World and so a popular spot for cruise ship passengers, and both Sapphire and Coki rent waverunners etc. Honeymoon Beach is quiet but it's on Water Island. Since you're looking for quiet on STT I recommend Secret Harbor. Magens can also be quiet if there aren't too many ships in port and you're willing to walk a ways down the beach away from the parking areas where people tend to congregate.
