Hi All,

I have been saving all of my Island News Newsletters that come with the membership (6 per year) but it seems that my wife has absolutely made up her mind that we will not be relocating to the USVI due to her fear of hurricanes... (we'll still come to visit 🙁 )

These newsletters are a valuable resource about events, neighborhoods, all real estate transactions (sales prices, locations, etc.) for all three islands, etc.

I was about to list the bulk of them on eBay but remembered all of the potential re-locators here on this board and figured I'd offer here first.

I have all issues from Volume 17 Number 5 (Sep/Oct 2003) up to the current issue (Volume 20 Number 6 -- November/December 2006).

Subscriptions cost $39.95 per year, or about $10 per issue.

Anyone interested can email an offer for the lot to [email protected]

Thanks,

Chris

Chris A.,

Your wife is afraid of hurricanes, and THAT is the reason for not moving? That's rather silly. I don't mean to trivialize her fears, but, I mean, where are you now? The Midwest? Is she afraid of Tornadoes? Then she'd better move! California? Better get out before an earthquake hits! Southeast? More hurricanes hit there than here! The mountains? Better watch out for those forrest fires! What I'm saying, though, in all seriousness now, is that, regardless of where you live, there is the possibility of a natural disaster. The odds on a huricane hitting us is mighty slim...just like the odds of a tornado hitting you. Sure, they happen all the time, but the odds of them hitting YOU are very slim. It'd be like not going outside because lightning might strike you. Lightning happens all the time, but what are the odds that it's gonna hit YOU? Here on STT we had a bad 'cane in '95 (Marilyn) and before that, we had a bad one in '89 (Hugo), but before that it had been 65 years! If you truly want to live in the islands, don't let fear of hurricanes be your reason for not doing it. OK, off my soapbox now!

Marty,

Oh, I see... you want me to use REASON with my wife... that works with yours?

🙂

You're preaching to the converted here!

Chris

My brother can't understand how I live on the Gulf Coast under "the constant threat" of hurricanes. I keep telling him at least I have 48-72 hours notice to hunker down or leave, unlike him.

He lives in CA and only knows of his "disaster" when it occurs.
