Hello All,

We are visting in April and was wondering about the best place to jet ski / para sail - Coki beach or Saphire beach ? I know Coki can get busy with the vendors, cruise ship passengers / folks going over to Coral world. Never been to Saphire. We are staying in the East End of the Island.

Thanks

you can rent them at dive in on sapphire.

when you rent the jet ski and go east until you hit land. that would be one less turtle killing, polution generating thing on the island.

Thanks for the lovely message - class act.

BTW I have no intention of killing anything. I assumed, maybe wrongly, that if it is allowed at these places that there is minimal impact to this beautiful island and the wildlife.

wessan: Don't pay any attention. PWC are very controversial here. There are many people who believe they should be banned. Sometimes their emotions get the best of them. And don't even start with dolphin prisons! 🙂

If you rent the ski at sapphire Marina, they charge $50.00 for a half hour. plus additional $10.00 for second rider. You will see some turtles on the surface. I wouldn't recommend sking on a windy day. It is very rough on the Ocean side.

Personal Water Craft are not friends of our sea's creatures. The fact that they're permitted simply means someone paid off someone else to get the permits they wanted.

Thanks to all for the replies on this. I have a better appreciation of the impact of this activity on the ocean wildlife and will think twice about doing it

It's your vacation, do what you want as long as it is legal. You know the airplane you fly on is not eco-friendly, maybe you should stay home. Not! Enjoy yourself. Jet skies are fun and legal

Why am I so sensitive to this? I live on Sapphire Beach, One of the great things here are the turtles. Which breath air. So they come up every four minutes or so. The jet skis come right into the area where the turtles are. And they are not looking at the water to see what is in front of them. They are also going pretty fast. So wham, they get hit.

By the way then turtles are covered by the federal government. Killing one can result in 5 years hard time. But I guess if you are not caught the only thing that is dead is just a turtle.

That is why I sent you the "CLASS ACT" MESSAGE!

Have a good day on the water.

Hello Wessan,

There is jet skiing at both Coki and Sapphire. Parasailing is also available at Sapphire and pretty sure its available at Coki too, double check if you haven't already - it is available from Coral World. At Coki the jet skis are across the road, opposite side from the beach. At Sapphire they are at the marina but you can ask about them at the dive/watersports booth on the beach.

Sounds like you have been to Coki beach already, so are familiar with it. It can get busy on cruise ship days, more ships means more beach-goers to Coki since a popular choice for cruise passengers. If you go in the early morning its less busy as the tours generally haven't started arriving as yet. Coki is a small beach that is part of the reason it gets busy so quickly. Sapphire is a pretty beach. Good snorkeling. Its also a popular choice with cruise passengers but its more or less Magens, Coki, Sapphire in terms of the order with cruise passengers. Sapphire is a longer beach than Coki so a bit more room to spread out. If you are renting a car (or by taxi) its easy to do Coki and Sapphire in one day. The two beaches are just about a 5-6 minute drive apart.
