we will be landing in STT on the night of July 4 and taking the ferry out of Redhook to St John. I know it is the last night of Carnival, fireworks, crazy crowded etc. My question is, taxi from the airport to Redhook, how long on a crazy crowded night? I don't want to miss the last ferry, which I think is at midnight...

thanks!

There will be very little xtra traffic on the airport to Red Hook route on STT - Red Hook will be very crowded but the taxi will get you to the terminal - probably about 30+ min. airport to terminal.
Landing in Cruz Bay however will be very crowded and congested - have whoever is meeting you designate a place to touch base - there will be no parking and probably no cars allowed near the dock - get a cell phone # and be sure your phone service will work on STT,STJ - there are fireworks in Cruz Bay at 9pm and is the last night of Village and music. If you are depending on taxi service you may want to rethink your arrival time - or stay on STT - have you been to STJ on July 4 night before??

Thanks exit for the tips. This will be our 4th time to St John, never on the 4th of July. Had I known....perhaps we wouldv'e made different travel dates. At any rate, I can deal with the crowds, just don't want to miss the last ferry. We are coming from Calif and our flight does not come into STT until 8:45, so we will be hustling. I will for sure take your advice about scheduling a meeting place with our greeter.

thanks again! we learn something new every time we come!
