Okay, I'll say in advance that I'm embarrased to post this but what the heck, i'm among friends!!!

I'm a Kenny Chesney fan and saw him in concert recently and while I was looking at some recent pictures that were posted on this sight the song about the "Old Blue Chair" of his came on my ITunes and so I'm wondering... have any of you ever seen him while vacationing there or know any interesting tid bits of his living there? Just random thinking on my part, but I do love how he describes the feeling of being on St. John in that song and mentions Cinnamon Bay and it added so much to looking at the pictures! I think at least one of his albums was written in great part while he was there. Anyone know anything that will fuel my interest?

He sold one of houses on STJ. He has others.

"Former GIRLfriend???? I think not!"

I am not sure if he went to STJ to get over a girlfriend, but I can tell you that I am sure that it was a girl. I know a woman that he dated. She confirmed that he is not gay. (WINK WINK, NUDGE, NUDGE)

PS: I've no interest whatsoever in Kenny Chesney. Even given the amount of time afforded to him on this forum (do a search for his name) I personally find nothing much attractive about him. He's a mediocre vocalist with limited range, and he has a problem. He's height-challenged for sure.

STTT.....If you prefer not to talk about Kenny Chesney, then just delete this thread. It almost sounds like you hate the guy...Do you know him? Is there a problem because he's shorter then you may be?

You really should give this thread a break and just read and reply to the other ones.

And no....i'm not a BIG fan.

STT resident - wow that is pretty harsh. I get that he's not that attractive (he really needs to keep a hat on!) but to say he has limited range - I mean he's a country singer! Does Trace Adkins have a range? not. How about Johnny Cash for that matter. Doesn't matter if they have an extensive range - its the songs, what they're about and how they make you feel when you listen to them.

I wonder if his new refuge is in Mexico...

Anyhoo, I'm going to see him on Thursday in Columbus and I can't wait!

Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion.... As my mother always says, if we were all the same, the world would be a boring place! 🙂

I wouldn't walk across the street to see him. I do not hate him, but I think he is as country as Snoop Dogg. He went from singing about a tractor to chilling on an island. Last time I checked sitting on the beach wasn't country, but to each their own. I am sure that some of my music choices wouldn't be on a lot of lists. He does what he does, and he seems to do it well. It just isn't my cup of tea.
I do not know how his is but I heard that he gets annoyed if people approach him when he is on the island. I am sorry, but when you are a star, this happens. If you want the normal life turn in all the money the fans paid for your stuff and live a normal life. He wants the good side of being famous (money fame), but doesn't want the bad(always in the public eye), and you always hear stars talk like that. They always say I wish I had more privacy. Well, I wish I had more money, and if I had this money I would talk to the people that made this all possible....Now I am just ranting, I guess I just hate when celebrities whine about how rough they have it, when there are a lot more people out there that have it rougher.

Hey all!

There seems to be a wide range of opinions here..haha. Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents..I have personally met Kenny a couple of times and he really is a nice person! I promise..lol. Since he calls the islands his home for part of the time, i guess you could consider him a "local" and since he's famous that is going to draw some attention...whether good or bad. Fan or not, Kenny commands respect for his hard work and good heart. Kenny did a thing a few months back with Anderson Cooper and he brought him down and showed him his lifestyle and even sang and played with some local kids. As for his range, i think that hardly has to do with his success and talent. I have heard him do everything from George Strait to Bob Marley and Van Morrison, and he does them well. As Lori (Mountaineergirl) said--it's not about his range..his songs make his fans feel something, and that's all that matters. Even if you hate him, you really can't bring down his success. I hope everyone has a great day ! 🙂

I will also be at the show in c-bus 🙂

Most talent have publicists, managers and a whole entourage. They all balance their career against their public profile. Well some do, some don't. I am sure that the Anderson Cooper trip wasn't a reward. In fact I'll be CBS paid for the trip. It was to do a profile for 60 minutes. And while you were exhibiting your image, where would you rather play..........showing yourself singing in front of cute kids or a bunch of drunks at Woody's.

Lindsay, don't take this as a negative post on KC. It is just the reality of what happens with celebrity.

Touche! Im not saying he paid for the trip, but all im saying is he's not a bad guy. As someone said earlier, he tends to be more private and doesn't usually promote his private life.

I do know after reading the ST. John Tradewinds that Mr. Chesney has donated to several of the island causes, and that they are most appreciative of his generosity.
The comments made by both STT Res and Jane about height and whether or not he likes girls is most unkind.
Nobody says you have to like someone's music either.
The true measure of a man is his heart, not his money or fame.

Dream, excellent post. There's no reason to be nasty about anybody ESPECIALLY if you don't know him personally.

I listen to him every now and then, but he's not one of my favorites.

I saw him in an interview. He seemed sincere, nice and devastated by his divorce.

Why do people have to be so mean??

I guess we should all be happy Jane hasn't made another comment on someone's so-called preferences.

Great Post Dream! That's what i was tryin to say is that he donates to many causes, not that he paid for a vacation for Anderson Cooper. Not at all.

Jane- What do you mean "Anderson Cooper, eh?"

I don't dislike his music. I like traditional country, but there's plenty of room for him to sing about the beach. I like the beach. And I just wanted to say for those who think that's a new phenomenon, country singers singing about the beach, 20 years ago Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard wrote and recorded "The Seashores of Old Mexico," which was covered recently, by the current King of country music, George Strait.

I did read the story about him selling his house, but he has plenty more to choose from down there. It is unfortunate that people go down there just because he's there, because that has to be annoying for people, including him, who have gone there to get away. Actually, if I remember correctly it was not until he got married that anyone officially knew that he lived on St. John. Before then, he'd always just said somewhere in the Caribbean. I figured that he was planning on getting out then ...

We all can figure out what she meant, even if she didn't "say it".
It's pretty mean-spirited.
I admire both Anderson and Chesney for their work and deeds. Wish there were more of them out there.

"some people" come to message boards just to stir things up. Most likely you won't hear from "Jane" or "some other people". They say what they have to say and let everybody else "strike" back. Keeps the thread going, they get to watch what's happening and most likely are just sitting there smiling. Whatever.............
