last minute tickets Miami to St Thomas???????

Hi
I'm helping on a yacht delivery to Miami in a week and wonder what is the best way to buy an airline ticket the day of or the day before I want to return to St. Thomas. Do they still due standby? Can I get a cheap prices if I buy my ticket the day I want to fly, or is that an expensive way to go? I can't see booking a ticket a week in advance, to many unknowns...

spiritair.com usually has good fares. you would fly out of ft. lauderdale. keep in mind that it is peak season though. i just looked and one way for next week is $199 plus taxes and fees.

American (www.aa.com) also has non-stop out of Miami (MIA->STT) showing $199 one-way.

A couple of weeks ago we got excellent rates for Indy to STT by waiting until the last minute. I try to fly mid week to avoid the crowds on American.

Try Hotwire.com the do last minute sales. I have done well with them before.
