Hi,
We're thinking of staying at LH this year instead of the Westin. Any comments or recommendations? We want a 1 BR unit and would appreciate any recommendations on certain units.
Thanks,
Joe

My grandparents stayed there when they came to visit in January of this year. Two things to think about...you are right over Cruz Bay, and the ferries that travel from around 6 a.m. until midnight are very loud. Also, you are very close to a huge luxury condominium construction project, which my grandparents said was also very loud.
A few positive things...the current rental manager (I think that's his title) was very nice and helpful, and the unit my grandparents stayed in had a great view of Cruz Bay. The proximity to town is also a bonus, as parking in town is a huge problem, so being able to walk there is a plus. You are within walking distance of wonderful restaurants and great bars. Hope this helps.

I just returned from St. John Saturday night and stayed at Gallows Point - we stayed in an upper harbor unit and was never disturbed by the ferries. I agree with Andrea that you are very close to a condominium construction site and I would not recommend staying there -

And just for reference, Gallows Point is across the street from Lavender Hill, and is likely to experience the same noise as LH. Although, Gallows is closer to the water than LH...interesting (but good) that you didn't have problems with noise from the ferries

I stayed there in march & loved them. you are very near the construction, but it didn't bother us at all. The unit was very nice, well appointed, etc.

Just got home from staying at the Gallows... we were there July 12-18. Noticed the ferries occassionally, usually when at the pool but the noise was very brief. Didn't notice them at all while inside our unit and we were on the point in 15D at the opening to the bay. LOVED Gallow's Point. The same man, Richard Matheny, I think is his name, with Suite St. John books units at Gallows and Lavender Hill. If you book at Gallows... 1C is a gorgeous unit and 15 D also. Units are individually owned so can vary greatly in how recently they were redone. Both of these I mentioned are just lovely with newer furnishings, etc. Whether you stay at Gallows or Lavender Hill you will LOVE how close you are to town... we walked in for dinner every night. Very pleasant.
