What and where are the supermarkets that offer the best deals/sales and cheapest prices for basic items like fruits, veggies, bottled water, cereals, milk, bread, eggs, snacks etc.?

Where can I get the best deals on liquor?

There will be no ships in port at all next month when we will be visiting STT, how will that effect the shopping areas and which attractions will be closed most definitely?

Where is the best snorkeling in STT/STJ?

Will it be possible for us to visit these STT attractions all in one day: 99 Steps, Bluebeard's Castle & Frederiksberg, Drake's Seat, Nisky Moravian Church, Mountain Top and Fort Christian?

What about on STJ can Annaberg Sugar Plantation, the Virgin Islands National Park and Trunk Bay be done in one day before the last ferry heads back to STT?

Greetings. I will answer a few now.

I feel KMart has the best prices on liquor.

There are quite a few cruise ships in for the month of September 2009. please see the link:

Mountain Top burned down.

Food prices are pretty constant thru out (expensive). Some places are higher than others.

cheers

"What and where are the supermarkets that offer the best deals/sales and cheapest prices for basic items like fruits, veggies, bottled water, cereals, milk, bread, eggs, snacks etc.?"

My preference is Food Centre out east for canned and bottled items. Marina Market in Red Hook for fresh items. You might check out Gourmet Gallery in Havensite also. Some folks like Plaza Extra or Pueblo, but I don't.

"Where is the best snorkeling in STT/STJ?"

My preference on St. Thomas is Secret Harbor.

"Will it be possible for us to visit these STT attractions all in one day: 99 Steps, Bluebeard's Castle & Frederiksberg, Drake's Seat, Nisky Moravian Church, Mountain Top and Fort Christian?"

Fort Christian has been closed for several years now for renovation. You can view it from the outside but cannot get inside as of now. If you have a car, you can easily visit 99 Steps, Bluebeard's, Drake's Seat and Nisky Moravian Church in the same day. Personally, there are a number of other sites right downtown below Blackbeard's and around the 99 Steps that you might want to visit while you are there. Stop by Drake's on your way out to Magen's if you are going there. You likely won't spend a whole lot of time at Drake's.

Interesting then how come this site is reporting no ships in STT for September?

Lovely: Are you staying at the Elysian? If so, Schultz's recommendations are good. (And Schultz, I hope you are working on your report!) I would stay away from fruits, veggies and meats at Food Center, but all your packaged items, liquor are a pretty good deal. You might want to hoof it out to Cost-U-Less once to stock up, too. They have good produce and meats, as well as liquor, beer and wine,

There may be a few days when not many stores are open in Havensight, but usually, at least Monday through Saturday, the stores downtown should be open. All of the grocery stores, etc. will be open. The biggest thing that could be closed are some restaurants. It is a good idea to call ahead, in any case.

I don't know why Islander only has two boats listed in September. Maybe Islander has had too much birthday cake and is hyperglycemic? 😛

If you go to the cruise ship schedule on this site and look for St Thomas, September, it states that the schedule is not yet available. VINow lists the cruise schedules on the present month basis so September's arrivals will be available as of September 1st.

Actually, without knowing that the schedule is updated at the beginning of each month and you search for STT, two (2) vessels are listed for the month of September on St. Croix (9/9 and 9/15) as "ALL ISLANDS". It does not say that the schedule is not available. I am sure this is what LOVELY STAR was referring to. Looking at that, it shows no cruise ships in STT for the entire month of September.

Cheers

My husband & I own a small bar Joe's Beach Bar Water Island. And trust me the most expensive place to buy anything is Gourmet Gallery. We have actually found that small Pueblo (Nisky) has the best price for liquor along with K-mart. For one stop shopping Pueblo also has the cheapest groceries for someone buying regular quanties. We go there everyday to buy stock for our bar and we are still able to sell drinks at a happy hour special.. Good luck on your activities on St.Thomas if you get an extra beach day stop by to Water Island for a great lunch at Heidi's, awesome Frozen drinks & more from Joe's and the most secluded white sandy beach with clear blue water.

Yes East Ender, we are staying at the Elysian from the 13th - 18th and we will be renting a car during that time.

Ah, lovely, Lovely! 😉 Make sure to stop by Robert's and sing with the piano playah (and some good food) and go to Ainsley's for some pizza. Enjoy!

19 ships in September per Wico

Usually Sunday, Thursday & Fridays are the NO ship days. Many downtown stores are closed or only open 10-4 those days.

Even with ship(s) in town - this is nothing compared to season, Downtown is NOT that busy unless we have 3 or more ships in the day
