Talked to someone the other day who told me that Magens Bay closes to visitors at 4pm and you have to be off the beach by 7. We will be arriving at 3pm and after checking in we were hoping to go to Magens. I really don't think we will make it. Can anyone tell me if this info is correct? And if so is there another beach we could visit via taxi? Thanks in advance for your input!

i can't say for sure if magens closes at 4 I thought it was 5 but another beach I recommend sapphire beach. It's not as pretty of a ride to get to sapphire as it is to megans but sapphire will probably be less crowded and it's beautiful, and you can also do some decent snorkeling. Enjoy your trip.

It closes to the charging but the gates remain open. Most locals incluoding myself go jogging there after 4:30 after work when they stop charging. The beach is usually quiet but I recommend getting out of there before dark, although I have been there a few times after dark with no trouble but why take the risk.

We went to Magens Bay Beach after 5pm and stayed to watch the sun set which was about 6:30pm this April. The beach was very peaceful with only a handful of people - one of the joggers was nice enough to take our picture for us. (Was that you Stu-Scott is was April 10th?) We also had an unexpected bonus - a man was playing soft jazz music on his sax under the pavillion. One little piece of advise is to bring some bug spray with you. I forgot to use mine that night and had a few itchy bites. I thought this was the most beautiful beach that we saw.
