What is "Miracle on Main ST. dec 16 this year"? This is our second trip to STJ and our first in December and have not heard of this event.

Thanks!

5under......well...last year in december it was something we accidentally found ourselves in the middle of!
let's see if i can at least give a small description
since we only caught the tail end of it

all the islanders and seems like OTHER islanders come to st thomas to charlotte amailie and set up the FOOD AND CRAFTS FAIR in the whole area by town by the parking lot and by the vendor market...
ALL THE PARK AND STREETS ARE COVERED IN CHRISTMAS LIGHTS you won't believe it.....every single tree and bush is covered in lights...and several big xmas trees are set up going towards cardow and the main area there

the food and crafts are lots of fun
AND ALL OF THIS STAYS OPEN TIL MIDNIGHT
INCLUDING ALL THE STORES this is the tourist part
all stores have big sales til midnight some even as high as 70% off! my girlfriend got an incredible deal on jewelry and i fought people in my favorite perfume shop but got to the front and brought home outrageous bargains almost 60% off

also many boats and yachts come to the waterfront all decorated in lights for christmas and if i am not mistaken there is some kind of contest for decorations....for boats and for houses!

last but not least the whole town is full of bands and dancing in the streets

leave the car at the hotel...just take a taxi and they will let you off close to town and enjoy walking around...a video camera would be great..

looking forward to it this year

it is an island event but let me tell you as a tourist i just loved it

MARTY AND ISLANDER please correct me if i am wrong

Well, I am not Marty or Islander, but I will say that the stores, while open late, probably will be closed by 9:00pm. The food, music and fun, of course will continue until a bit later! 🙂

It is sort of like Carnival for Christmas.

Another great holiday event is the Rising Stars Steel Orchestra Christmas Concert.

St. Thomas' Rising Stars Youth Steel Orchestra will perform their annual Christmas concert at 7:00pm on December 11th at Reichhold Center of the Arts. They will perform classical selections and traditional Christmas music that has been arranged by Rising Stars instructors and arrangers. Guest performances typically include School Choirs from local elementary schools. Come out and enjoy great music, while supporting a wonderful youth organization – the Rising Stars Youth Steel Orchestra! Tickets for the event are $15 for covered seats, and uncovered seats are $10 and $5.

Tickets are sold at the Rechhold Center Ticket office.

Hello Ginger,

Perhaps the Havensight evening shopping Christmas event - but I don't have the date as yet. At the top of this page if you click on General Info a menu that includes Local Events will appear. That is our events calendar - you can check there, we add events as we get notices on them. 😉
