Hi all 🙂 I have found a fantastic deal for the Moonlight Villa @ Mahogany Run and wondering if anyone has any experience, thoughts on this property...

Also, I looked for a week when the moon would be full and came up with last week of April 2010. Sounds like a great time of year to visit "paradise", as our visit this year in Feb/March the water was too chilly for us transplanted New Englandahs now calling SW FLA home. Anywho, I now realize that week may be Carnival on STT and I'm wondering if traffic, congestion throughout the island will be an issue. Any comments? This will be our 4th stay on STT but never experienced Carnival and this will only add to the awesome time that we always have in the USVI!! 😎 Mostly concerned for the airport/flights in extra huge demand and higher airfare.

Thanks in advance for any replies!!

Enjoy,
Kathy

The airport/airfare shouldn't be affected by Carnival. If there is traffic, your taxi driver will likely have routes to avoid much of it. Don't know anything about the villa.

Stores on Main Street will be closed the Fri/Sat of Carnival for Parades -- Traffic along the Carnival Village waterfront during the evenings can be very slow -- Parking downtown during the day is radically reduced because the big parking lot is closed for weeks - Some businesses are closed or operating at reduced hours - bank, Post Office , Govt. offices post closings as well.
The Parades are truly worth seeing - hot, crowded and loud but hey it's a Parade!
Visiting the Village in the evenings for food and music can be worthy.
I know nothing of the Villa - Mahogany Run is the golf course in STT and far removed from downtown and the Carnival activities - some private homes and rental villas are in the complex as well and some condos are listed as villa rentals.
Airfare is what it is probably -- the airport won't be any more crowded or busy than usual as visitors arrive for Carnival over many days - beaches won't be any more crowded except for Magens the Sun. after Carnival for Last Lap - St John does not get affected much at all - Carnival is a good experience for some people and others see very little of it.

Yes!!! I knew there were some friendly locals out there;)
Thanks to all of you for your much appreciated thoughts, experience.

I am now psyched to be there to experience some of carnival but at 1st when I
realized that I may have just booked the place during one of the busiest
times on island I'm sure, well I kinda-sorta panicked thinking the airfare would
be crazy and the airport even crazier*-) We CAN handle all this excitement!
Besides we usually hang out in the East or North unless we day trip to some
of the other islands.

Thanks again...

Enjoy the weekend.

Oh one last thing...sorry for your loss St Thomians, Mountain Top will surely be missed by
us. Wouldn't be a visit without a coupla daquiris and that awesome view:-(

The rental car reservation is important now -- they get booked out that week very quickly.

Moonlight has always been a pretty popular villa and has a great view! Centrally located in Mahogany Run and easy to go just about anywhere you choose! Has all of the amenities you could hope for!

The only crowded area during Carnival is town- they close the large parking lot for Canival Village, making parking difficult. But outside of town, things are pretty quiet. I agree, if you haven't tried, go to Food Fair, a parade, Carnival Village. Lots of fun!
