Hello fellow forum peeps!

I was reprimanded this morning my a reader who I am sorry to say was offended by my dinghy story. Up until now I have only had positive feedback.

My only desire was to provide you with a smile and hopefully have you gain some type of knowledge from our experience as I have learned so many wonderful things from everyone else.

I am in no way sulking or asking for praise. I just want to know if you are enjoying our adventures and would like to hear more or should I gracefully bow out now? I have put in a lot of time and thought into relaying our experiences and either way it's been a fun ride. I do not wish to offend.

chrisn,

love your posts, please continue. those of us temporarily away from the place we love, relish the experiences of others on island and willing to share their adventures. all our family members and friends have nicknames too, than change with their latest adventure. i for one have survived several similar events as our groups have ventured around the islands.

keep up the good work. you're the best i've read since my last carl haiisen novel.

Just out of curiosity, what was the "reader" offended by? I reread it thinking I missed something, but I couldn't see anything to be offended by, other than the fact that you very unwisley ran into a reef!

We'll be on St. Croix this time tomorrow..........

Thanks to all. Very simply, the reader was offended that we "crashed" into the reef with our carelessness (how do you think I felt, I was there). They were also offended that we detroyed the serenity of the beach while we were "yelling at each other like wild Indians" and "pounding rocks."

You can read what was said by both parties under my dinghy report on the caribbean-on-line forums.

I hope most of you will be happy to know that I will be posting another installment sometime today.

chrisn,

read the comments of the distractor on the other board. didn't know people with such an "air" (or is it heir) about them went to public beaches where she might have encountered you and clan as you pounded the hell out of the prop.

i've lived and loved my bride's embelished tales for over 40 years, yours are divine. i too look forward to the continuing saga.

Absolutely! You go girl! Love your trip reports!!!

I would have been mortified by the dinghy experience, and understand completely how something like that could happen. We had an "almost" similar to yours a number of years ago. We anchored our rental catamaran overnight in a bay where anchoring IS allowed (have to be sure that's understood from the get-go!). As required, we were anchored in sand. During the night the winds were strong enough to pull us slowly across the bay. We woke just in time to rescue the boat from crashing into the rocky shoreline (whew!). This all happened on the watch of a very experienced captain (not me). Needless to say, it was a triple-painkiller evening after we found a mooring ball in our next bay.

So try not to feel too bad - stuff happens sometimes. If anything, you've provided a service by educating other readers with your story. Thank you for that.
