Are there any airfare watch dogs out there who can help me?

We want to fly out of ORD on November 17, 2011.

Depart STT on November 26, 2011.

I want to fly out of ORD early, to arrive at STT before 5pm because I want to catch the car barge to STJ. (The earlier the better.)

I want to fly out of STT no earlier than about 11:00 am on the departure date because I don't want to be rushed to catch an early car barge, etc.

I don't want less than an hour between any connecting flights because I've been burnt with delays and missed flights in the past.

I've been using Orbitz, but is there a better way to search?

Especially a site that will notify me if/when prices drop into my target range? I know Orbitz does this, but I'm just looking for a better way and the best deal possible, of course. 🙂

Two adults, one 11 year old.

I'd like to stay under $600, taxes and fees included, for each ticket.

I'm not asking for much! haha!

Thanks for your helps Friends!
Jayne

I spend hours-days-weeks searching airfares on-line for myself. I don't think it's fair to ask other people to take on the chore for you. We love to help, but this is just too much work to ask of strangers.

Agree with SapphireBeach08's comments. I spend hours researching and watching for the best deal.

I would suggest using expedia.com. That's been my site of choice.

Good luck getting the tickets for $600. $700 maybe. If they get below $700 during the time you're looking I would grab them.

Hello Jayne,

Try Spirit Airlines. If your schedule is flexible (excluding Thanksgiving period), you might be able to get a fare of $330 RT (or as low as $184) based on above info. Just remember that because of the cheap fare, Spirit Airlines is cheap in every way. They charge for luggage, carry-on or check-in, they charge for making seat reservations, they even charge for water on the plane.

Good luck.

Thanks anh7tam! I'll check out the Spirit site. 🙂

I was simply looking for some friendly input and conversation. I thought I'd be criticized for not providing enough information, based on reading other posts.

Some folks on another board suggested Yapta, which has helped immensely. Maybe someone else reading this will be helped by that as well. We're going to go one day earlier and leave one day later for about $438 per ticket unless I find something better via Spirit.

If you decide to book with Spirit make sure you take the extra fees into account. I believe they charge you for a carry on as well as a checked piece of luggage. The weight limits for checked bags is also less than other airlines. You can rack up some big dollars with your luggage. Good luck.

I use Travelocity.com. Try that one... and always check mid-week at night. Prices seem to do interesting, odd things when they think nobody's looking! *-)

We also fly out of ORD, in fact we will be leaving STT on the 12th of November . I use Travelocity, Sidestep, et. to compare when I find a great price I book direct with the airline, for some reason I've found the best fares on wednesday mornings. good luck

I use yapta and kayak. With yapta, you can track flights and get an email if the price changes. Good luck! Cheapest flight that meets your requirements is $706.

Thanks everyone!

We ended up with November 16 - November 25 at $395 per ticket before taxes/fees -- so about $440 I believe.

Thanks for the Wednesday tip On Island Time!

We ended up using Yapta, which directed us to purchase the tickets directly through the airline and we are now tracking them. If Yapta finds a better fare for our flights we get a refund voucher.

Airfare - check
St. John Villa - check
Jeep - check
Mafolie for extra STT days - check
Just need to make some dinner and boat reservations and we are SET!

We are beyond excited to be returning to St. John -- woo hoo!

Thanks again for the help...I think I mainly needed moral support because I always overthink when it's time to click, "Add To Cart".
