Hello all, getting ready for our 1st trip to STX at the end of June. We will be staying at Cottages by the Sea and renting our car from Judi of STX. While going from the airport to Cottages, we wanted to stop at a market for some items, breakfast, rum, etc.....I keep hearing that Plaza Extra is a good bet for most items, but exactly where is it. Also have heard that Cost-U-Less is good too, again where is it.

Thanks for the help here and all the other good information we've gathered in the past.

Plaza is on Centerline Road in Sion Farm, on the way to Cottages. Its on the north side of the road, you can't miss it. Cost-u-less is on the same road in the other direction. The person from Judi's can point you in the right direction. if they are going back to the office, you can even follow them to Cost-u-less. It's really very simple, but addresses?? We don't need no stinkin addresses!!! lol.

I think there's a second Plaza Extra off Centerline (70) in Plessen - right around where 70 (West) crosses 69. I remember seeing it and also a second K-Mart in that general area when we were headed out to Sandcastles for lunch (Sandcastles is right next door to Cottages). These store locations might be easier for you to get to on your way from the airport to Cottages - you would be heading west. To get to the Sion Farm locations you would be heading east to find them then heading west again. Depending on when your flight lands, the traffic around Sion and Sunny Isle could be a mess and cost you a lot of time.

You may find most of what you are looking for at Plaza Extra and K-Mart as the K also has food (not a full grocery, though) liquor, beer, and wine. You could save Cost-U-Less for a day when you might be visiting some beaches or restaurants out on the east end or going into C'Sted..K-Mart and CUL are pretty close when it comes to liquor prices although CUL has been cheaper on the Cruzan Estate Diamond by a couple of $. That's the one we bring back - we can now get the regular Cruzan and most of the flavors and the rum cream (yumm) locally but finding the 5 year Estate around here is tough and expensive,

I think the route from the airport would be 66 West to 69 North then West on 70 - the stores could be a little bit east of 69, though, maybe someone will jump in and clarify that. After shopping, continue west on 70 into F'Sted to take a left on Fisher Street (702), then a left on Veterans Shore Drive. You'll see Sandcastles on the Beach first and then Cottages (both on your right). No stinkin' addresses just some routes...if I can get around on STX, anyone can! So much easier than some of the other islands...

Have a great time - we are already planning our third trip!

You may be having more trouble finding diamond rum because the rum factory recently discontinued it for good...:-(. So make sure you save a couple of bottles if you've stockpiled some! It's tough to get it here now too!

Ohhhhh, NOOOOOO!!!! DH will be heartbroken! It's his favorite! Someone told me that there's a Mount Gay rum that is similar - I'll have to investigate before his stash runs out!

Thanks for the tip!
