I have guest sarriving to stay on Water Island in March. Their plane arrives after the last ferry leaves Crown Bay Marina. Does anyone know of a water taxi or boat for hire that would take them to WI on a Sunday night about 8-9pm? There are 5 adults with luggage. The also need a ride back the next Sunday for an early flight out.
Thanks!!

I would just call the water taxi. The guy that is the captain lives right outside Crown Bay on his sail boat. I am sure with the right per$ua$ion you could arrainge something. Short of that Google Dolphin Water Taxi. If can't find the number for the Ferry then call Tickles Bar at Crown Bay.

They do special runs. Just ask them, as Capt Jay says.

Carolina, I suppose you've checked already with Steve to see if a captain would be willing to provide transport. I know last year he mentioned that he's a ferry that runs on a schedule and not private water taxi but maybe he might make exception if one of his Captains would be willing. I've done some due diligence since last year after hearing the new policy for Water Island ferry. Contacted Dohms. But, they were unable to support pickup from WI and drop at Crown or Krum Bay. You might check with them again to see if they could support. Or, you might ask Randy or Mary to see if they know of someone/resident on WI. I ran into similar issue in past year and our guests stayed with Ronnie/Crystal Palace and had a wonderful last evening - THANK YOU RONNIE!

Most water taxis in the STT area operate only out of the East End and don't provide service for the West End/subbase area.

Here's the web sites of the water taxis that I'm aware of in the STT area. Based on my experience, it's unlikely these service providers would be able to support a pickup/drop for WI/subbase but it wouldn't hurt to ask again this year. Anyone have more options for Carolina?

Thanks, everyone. I am checking the the ferry to see about a special run. I have not heard back yet. I emailed the water taxi-vi group and hope to hear back. If those service do't work out --I bet I can find someone on Water Island to help. People on Water Island are very helpful.

I wish I were down there!

Thanks again!!

Bobcside, you should definitely check the VINOW site https://www.vinow.com/waterisland/gettingthere_wi/ since you're planning a trip for Sat. Night. By the way, I do believe that the ferry makes a special run on Saturday nights to transport folks that are not staying on WI back to STT.....call to confirm they're doing it the evening you'll be going 340-60-4159.

WI ferry has added more run times and I believe the VINOW site is still accurate.

Islander: You may want to check with Steve again though on the schedule. I believe he changed times for one of the afternoon runs. I think because the folks working on the new (WILL-THEY-EVER-GET-IT-DONE) ferry landing requested earlier/later run (like 15 mins difference) to accomodate them when they get off work? Steve did modify the posted sign at the slip at Tickles while we were there November and December and my mental note of the changes he made are no longer lodged in my brain.
