I have been watching for awhile. Why are the new ferries docked at Cruz Bay? I thought they were already operational.

Not that this offers any answers Orney but I found this article.

Business as usual in the VI.
No prior proper planning, just spend the money that ends up in someone's pockets and let the cards fall where they may which is the norm.

They should just hire someone else besides the present ferry operators to run the new ferries and quit giving subsidies to what is basically ALL CASH businesses and give the present operators some comptition for a change to entice lower fares and better services.

Good point Alana. I always forget the cash business part and I have a lot of ATM fees to show for it. I wonder if taxes are being paid on EVERY fare.

Doubt it but they continue to increase fares and charges for carry-ons and luggage.

The ferry operators have the upper hand and they know it. The new ferries have less capacity than the old, so they will still need the old ferries during peak times. And besides, who wants the sweaty construction workers on the plush seats of the new ferries? The old ferries are easier to clean.

They could hire other companies just for those ferries, but then they'd lose the back up ferries.

The feds should take the new ferries back, imo. And they should do it before inauguration as not to taint new officials.

No. Still parked up in the same spot.

What a waste! Just another fine example of VI Government wasteful ways, inefficiency and red tape bureaucracy.

I'll be in STJ November 13. I wonder if they will be in service by that time?

I'll just be happy if they are out of the Cruz Bay harbor by November and no longer blocking the Spice cam view.

I just happened to have the SpiceCam up and all of a sudden there was only one ferry. Then both were gone. I caught a glimpse of them definitely heading north as they left the screen.

Very funny! Check tomorrow during the day. One had gone when I looked and the other was moving away from dockside. Oh where oh where have the ferry boats gone?!!!

I saw on some other forum they have been moved to "the creek"? Is that at the park HQ?
