Im confused, is there two different daysails with New Horizons. Ive noticed people talking about New Horizons and New Horizons 11. I want the daysail to the baths but the website ive been reading talks about going to National Park at St. John . Can anyone clarify this for me and tell me where i have to go to plan the day sail trip with New Horizons

I haven't taken the trip (yet), but I think that this is the website: http://www.newhorizonscharters.com/

We went on the New Horizons trip to the Baths & Jost Van Dyke. I didn't care for the captain - he was snotty and didn't have a good personality. His first mate on the other hand was very nice. The only draw back was the rush - they kept us on a tight schedule.

Also, while we went thru customs all of our souvenirs were stolen (we had left them on the boat). We had spent around 150 dollars on t-shirts, etc. The Captain couldn't have cared less. We didn't make a scene, we were just very disappointed. Overall we had a good time, we met some very nice people but if we went back we would find another charter.

Look around - there are probably other charters that go to the Baths. Also, just go with the flow 🙂

We went on NHII with Chad & Danielle, very personable. They leave out of STT and go to STJ if someone from there needs to be picked up. Otherwise they just stop and point out houses on Peters Bay. Great trip, never felt rushed.

It can be 20 ft at the baths to less then 5 ft at the soggy dollar. Does it make a difference once it's over your head. They had noodles and boogie boards available to use

I took the NH II back in October (FANTASTIC trip, BTW!) when my mother was visiting, and we swam about 40 yards to get into the Baths (maybe 10 yards at White Bay for the Soggy Dollar)...but the boogie boards or noodles made it very easy for those not very good at swimming. The crew is very accomodating and will help anyone that needs it. But, in all honesty, since the salt content is so high here, you float so well...no one needed any assistance at all...I don't think anyone on our trip even used a noodle or a float. But, they are ready, in cased you do! You will have an AWESOME time on this one!!!

"New Horizons Daysail" is a sailboat trip (74 footer, I think?)...the NH II is a powerboat trip (42 foot 'Johnny Quest' style boat). The NH only goes to STJ, while the powerboat (NH II) goes to the Baths and Marina Cay and Soggy Dollar on Jost...hope this helps to clarify the two..

Well now I just feel cheated. The captain must have been in a bad mood the day of our trip.

The Captain and first mates are contract workers so you don't know who you are going to get if there is someone you like I think you could ask for them.

Definitely...thanks!! Planning on taking the New Horizons 2 day sail. When they pull into the beaches, how deep is the water you have to swim in to get to the beach

Thanks Marty. Just needed to know..husband isnt best swimmer. He can get from point A to point B. If he has to go a long distance, the noodles will help..thanks

Couple more questions...

Need some advice, plan on booking daysail to the baths. Would it be better to book on line or wait till i get to the island to book a sail. Is there any coupon books that u can get somewhere that can give you a discount?

They fit you for fins before you leave, that should help with the swim! Take it slow & use a boogie board Danielle got in the water and stayed around the weaker swimmers...everyone made it 🙂 Now the climb through the baths was difficult for the heavy passengers on our boat & they turned around. You need to be somewhat agile.

Someone did mention discount coupons for New Horizons II, but it may have been on a different board I've been reading. The coupons were in a book given out at a car rental place. Does anyone remember which one?

I think it was at Budget, but ask for it just in case.
