Hello all:

I have just reserved a week next April at Villa Terra Nova on Water Island. Anyone have experience to share about this Villa or Water Island in general.

I realize the location is very "away from it all" but that will be perfect for relaxing but still easy enough to get to St. Thomas for a day trip or two.

Any advice appreciated.

Becky

Kim - did you leave Water Island every day or only a few times during the week? More than once a day? Is it feasible to spend most of the time on WI? I know a grocery trip and some STT sightseeing is necessary but would a week on the island just be too boring? Thanks -- sounds like your trip was a fine one! Is there any where to rent a dinghy?

Glad you had a great trip even with the ferry hassles. Is Heidi on the beach every day or just weekends? How late is the beach bar open every day?

Can't wait to be there in April

Stayed at Villa Terra Nova in February, 2007. You will love it. Great wrap around porch with views you will never forget. Full kitchen and all the amenities you could ever need. Have a great time.

Kim,
Thanks much for the review ,sounds like you had a good time. I am staying at Glen Laurel in January and I am concerned with the cost of the ferry and food as well. I do not think there is enough to do on WI for a week so I would like to visit Hassel & st. John while there.
Is there a cost savings when you purchase a punch pass?

Interesting... your observation of Pueblo vs. Gourmet Gallery, just the opposite of a previous review. Buy the way, did you walk to Pueblo from Crown Bay?

Thanks again....Curly

Hi,

Beckymac - Heidi's is open everyday for lunch from around noon to 2 or 3pm and she does a dinner on Saturday nights. Heidi's movie night is every other Monday during off season and every Monday during season.

Joe’s Beach Bar – Off season it opens weekdays at 2pm and weekends at noon; closed on Monday. During season opens at noon or 11am on weekdays and 11am on weekends. Doesn't have a regular set closing time; generally around 6-7pm, depends on weather and number of customers. Has frozen drinks, beer, fruit juice, water and a couple snacks like jerky and chips. Pot luck BBQ every Sunday around 4pm, usually has a band. Specials Saturday for Power Hour between 3-4pm; with specials like $2 Vodka and Rum Mixed Drinks, $2 Bud.

When you arrive on Water Island check the bulletin board in the small mail center area by the ferry dock for information on Heidi's and Joe's as there are usually fliers posted with the most current offerings and specials. Also if Water Island Bowling or anything else is going on there will be a flier posted.

Exitzero - don't know of any dinghy rentals on Water Island.

Curly - Weekly Commuter Pass is $45 for adults and $25 for Children. It includes 10 one way trips. Single trip tickets are: Adults/$5 one-way and Children/$3 one-way. So you're saving .50 cents on each trip.

Thanks Deb! Just what I wanted to hear. How are the views at night? Love stargazing and seeing the lights in the distance. Also forgot to ask owner's about AC?

Islander:

Thanks for the info. Sounds like we won't go hungry or THIRSTY. Will be there the first week of April so thiings should be in full swing.
Is cash required at both Heidi's and Joes?

Heidi's, Joe's, as well as the ferry are cash only. I believe the ferry will take LOCAL personal check.

Becky,
Your view will be facing St. Croix and the open Caribbean. On a very clear night or day for that matter, we could see the outline of St. Croix. Villa does not have air. You won't need it. Feel free to PM me with more specific questions. Deb P.S. the picture on my avatar was taken on Honeymoon Beach!!!
