Hi everyone! I have 5 days until I get to the islands and can't wait! I am staying in St. John with my family, but we are all flying in to STT at separate times and I am the first to arrive around 1pm. Any suggestions for things to do while waiting for the rest of the crew?? Would it be better to take a taxi over to the Red Hook Ferry and spend the afternoon there? Is there anything to do in that area and it is pedestrian-friendly?? Also, is there any place to store a suitcase for a few hours or will I be toting this around with me (may mean I end up bringing a backpack)? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Why not head on over to the east end St. Thomas.....where the Red Hook Ferry is located. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, grocery, boats coming/going.......lots of things to keep you visually and mentally occupied until your crew arrive - all nicely located within walking distance of the Red Hook ferry terminal. I don't know of any place you can store your suitcase for a few hours. You might want to bring that backpack. You could even hop on the ferry and just hang out in Cruz Bay, St. John until the rest of the crew arrive. Plenty going on there as well. Either way......I wish I had your problem 😉 You'll already be on island time while the rest of your crew will have to catch up fast! Have a wonderful time!

Thanks for the insight! I think I will head over to the east end... sounds like a great place to spend a few hours.
And you're right... I guess it's not a bad problem to have!! 🙂 4 days and counting!!

If not for the luggage, I'd suggest taking a taxi to the Charlotte Amalie area and walking around the area of the 99 steps. I did a tour of Black Beard's Castle and the associated houses on the property and enjoyed it. I would not have enjoyed it lugging a bag around, though.

The idea posted above of going on to Cruz Bay to wait is a good one, as well.

Thanks mkdb! Charlotte Amalie may work if I decide to bring a backpack. Not sure I can do Cruz Bay though... this whole trip is a surprise for my father's 70th bday and he doesn't know we are all coming and will be on the 3pm ferry!!! :$) So, I think that waiting in St. Thomas for the rest of the family is probably the safest option for not ruining the surprise. What about finding a beach to plant myself on for a few hours?? I'm thinking that may be a better option than trying to lug bags around the island???

There is a great beach next to the airport. You can belly up to the bar at Island Beachcomber and wait for the rest of your group. If you don't have a lot of stuff to carry, you could even walk.

Just got back from my wonderful week in the islands and I did find the Island Beachcomber! Great beach within walking distance, so within a 1/2 hour of landing in St. Thomas I was swimming in the ocean! So convenient and it passed the time perfectly! Thanks a bunch!!
