As I have been reading most all of the posts and trip reports for a couple of months now, there seems to be a common theme that keeps coming up - painkillers!

In preparation for my trip in June, I think I need to have a few of these between now and then, you know, to "get used to them". Do any of you have the recipe, or if there are variations, do any of you have an especially good recipe? Also, if you have any stories of the origin of the drink, that'll give me something to think about while I am making them.

What the heck, if you have any recipes for the bushwhacker, post them also. I do have three months to wait after all. Thanks.

Joe

I got a recipe from webtender.com, but don't know if its the same as the Soggy Dollar's. and while we're talking recipes, I'd like one for a good rum punch!

This is the painkiller recipe I always use (usually subbing Cruzan dark for Pusser's) - there's also a rum punch recipe on the page. Enjoy 🙂

thanks, that rum punch recipe sounds good. Haven't bought guava juice for a while. It brings back memories of when my boys were small, they called guava juice "butterfly" juice! don't know why, either because they couldn't say guava or because the juice bottle had a picture of the flower which made them think of butterflies. Anyhow, around here, we still call it "butterfly" juice!

I found a recipe on Foxy's web site . It's basically the same as the ones posted above. I've been using Mount Gay Rum since hat what was in the cabinet, but my wife bought some Pineapple Cruzan Rum and that made a very good Painkiller, too!

I think you are doing the right thing, Joe. It's important to train heavily before any strenuous event, so make sure you do a few reps of painkillers weekly to get you ready for the trip! 🙂

Mountaineer Girl - the pics on the Pusser's site look SO good - I think I'll grab me some "butterfly juice" and mix up a rum punch - or three 🙂 Ease the pain of the March madness snow storm!
