Does anyone know anything about Paloma Blanco Villa on Gifft Hill? I think this is new, but can't figure out where it is.

Thanks.

cj, i believe pb is toward peak of gifft hill, to the south and east of the cluster of gifft hill villas of c9 and plumeria. also know she's been in dstj rental pool since pre 05. from a post i read, she has a tuff drive, i believe the one to the left of gh rd going to south shore just past the dumpster by coconuts.

ps, don't give up till you've turned every stone. we're both looking for same thing!

Paloma is north of VGE. Heading north on Gifft Hill road, you turn right on a dirt road across from the dumpsters next to Coconuts Villa. If Cloud Nine Villa is on the same road as Plumeria, it is to the left, just past Coconuts. We stayed there in May of 2005, so I don't think it is that new.

I stayed at Plumeria which is right next door to Coconuts (I think). I do not remember the name of the road you turn on but coming from direction of Pastory Gardens -- you take a right onto some road and Coconuts if right villa on left, 2nd villa on left is Plumeria and Cloud 9 is at end of this short road on the right. Paloma Blanco must be across from Plumeria. I think there are a couple more villas down from Plumeria -- Palm something. My directions might be turned around. Plumeria was an awesome villa -- we enjoyed the views tremendously!

No, Paloma Blanca isn't on the same road as Plumeria. If you are coming from Pastory Gardens, you would go past the road Plumeria is on. I think Coconuts is basically on the corner of that road and Gifft Hill road. Just past Coconuts is a dumpster and you if you turn left there onto a dirt (I think) you will come to Paloma. I think the views from the Gifft Hill villas are the best!! I love the islands raising out of the sea and the twinkling lights of St Thomas at night.

I think the turning left is what is confusing me. I guess this means that Paloma looks out and the road is below it and you would see cars below? Do I have it right now?

cj, if you went to plumeria via centerline rd you turned left downhill into the rd into the gifft hill villas, so coconuts was on corner on left when you turned and plumeria dr next left and drive to palm and c9 next left. if instead of turning off rte 104 (gifft hill rd) by coconuts, you continued a few hundred feet the dumpsters will be on your right and the drive up to pb will be on your left, a very rough looking rocky drive as of last week but not too step. yes pb is above the road but high enough up i don't believe you can see traffic.

to see on aerial pics go to

http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=18.347577&lon=-64.779634&z=16.2&r=0&src=msl

click inside the flashearth grey overlay to close overlay, at bottom right enter co-ordinates 18 19 45.4N 64 46 28.1W in box and enter and you'll get a + on top of plumeria. you can zoom in and see plumeria, coconuts etc. then enter 18 19 39.2N 64 46 22.5W and the + will be on top of pblanco, red roof with pool on left. pb maybe as much as 100 ft higher than plumeria and while plumeria's deck faces straight down over great cruise bay, pblanco faces more nw toward contant point and cruz bay so great cbay is a little to left.

higher elevation would increase chance of seeing sun set in water just north of mt top on stt in summer. pblanco been on my list too and we've had good experiences with desstjohn on renting.

still, papabou

We stayed at Paloma Blanco last August. About 1:00 am in the morning on our first night there we awoke to find a man in our bedroom going through our things. I chased him out and called police. They said that they had had a lot of problems in that area of the island with thefts and breakins.

Do yourself a big favor and look elsewhere. Our rental agent was prompt to relocate us into another villa on Gift hill. It was great and we felt secure there.

Thanks! This could happen anywhere on the island -- but that would freak me out! I am not that familiar with this area of Gifft Hill anyway!

cj,

solaris is next door to temptress (to east) and while she has good winter sunsets, i believe southern ridgeline off gifft hill will obscure view of sunsets in july.
